Drug Enforcement Administration Supervisory Physical Security Specialist in Springfield, Virginia
Summary This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Inspections Division, Office of Security Programs. This position(s) primary purpose is to implement the functions and planning for the DEA Administrator and the Office of Security Programs regarding enterprise-wide implementation and monitoring of DEA's security systems and applications, devices and all related equipment, activities, and operation at DEA Headquarters, National Capital Region, and domestic field offices. Responsibilities As a Supervisory Physical Security Specialist, your typical work assignments may include: Supervising the work of Physical Security Specialist government personnel and multiple contract employees, as it relates to communication and security systems hardware and software development, implementation, monitoring and management of the Castle System. Inspecting, monitoring, and conducting evaluations of DEA facilities worldwide to determine overall effectiveness of security posture and to ensure agency-wide compliance with applicable legal and policy requirements regarding facilities, personnel, information, and material. Advising senior management of methods and remedies to reduce communication security vulnerabilities and leaks, and of current and future security requirements and plans. Developing, writing, reviewing, and updating enterprise-wide policies, procedures, and directives, for the communication security, and system security programs. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicants must meet the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of the announcement. Applicants applying for the GS-14 must meet one of the following requirements: A. Have at least one full year of specialized experience that is at least equivalent to work performed at the GS-13 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Maintaining an effective program for purchasing, monitoring, and maintaining equipment to support the security for the agency; 2) Observing staff performance and conducting work performance critiques; 3) Managing the policy and accountability of COMSEC, Key Management Infrastructure (KMI), and best security practice for HSPD-12 PIV card access control systems (ACS), intrusion detection systems (IDS), and closed circuit television (CCTV) monitoring stations; 4) Evaluates procedures designed to mitigate adversary attacks against agency facilities, personnel, information, and material; and, 5) Reviews new or revised legislation or regulations for impact on programs.
