Amentum Operations Research Systems Analyst in Springfield, Virginia

Amentum is seeking a junior to mid-level experienced Operations Research Systems Analyst in Springfield, VA in support of a Department of Defense (DoD) customer. In this role, you will play a pivotal role as part of a Test and Evaluation (T&E) team, providing on-site expertise analyzing technical data and systems performance while evaluating current and emerging capabilities in support of the customer’s mission requirements. You will be relied upon to solve complex problems, assisting the team with the development, execution, and evaluation of detailed test events and test results, performing qualitative and quantitative analysis to identify trends and document findings that will inform client decision-making. Key to this role will be the development and application of probabilistic models, statistical inference, simulation models, and data optimization tools to enhance insights on test results and provide the necessary supporting data to generate clear and precise recommendations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, design, formulate, manage, execute, and document a broad range of analyses involving current and projected conditions and challenges pertaining to capabilities under evaluation.

  • Assist Test Plan development by identifying essential data needed for analysis, developing Data Collection and Management Plans (DCMP), and organizing post-test data processing and analysis activities.

  • Assist in developing test objectives, critical operational issues, and measures of performance/effectiveness to determine suitability and effectiveness of capabilities under evaluation.

  • Apply a wide range of data-mining techniques to verify and validate data quality to ensure accuracy of analytical results.

  • Develop and apply customs scripts, tools, and statistical models using various analytical platforms (e.g., MATLAB, R, Python, etc.) and Microsoft applications (e.g., Excel/VBA, SharePoint, Access, and Word) to support assessments and evaluation of systems performance.

  • Recommend and implement modeling and simulation tools and software to optimize the data analysis process and maximize the efficient use of T&E resources.

  • Clearly articulate analysis activities and results to the customer through oral and written communications by conducting briefings and generating various reports in support of contract deliverable requirements.

  • Provide technical support to client and contractor team in support of contract requirements.

  • Develop and support new analytics capabilities as requirements evolve within the T&E community for assessments (e.g., data mining, systems analysis, cloud computing, data visualization, modeling and simulation).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have an active Secret US Government clearance with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility . Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain a Top-Secret clearance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in OR/applied mathematics, physics, engineering, statistics, actuarial science, or related field of study with 4+ years of experience.

  • Strong experience using MATLAB and Excel/VBA.

  • Experience working in a classified environment and on classified networks.

  • Must be self-motivated and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Must be able to work both independently and within a structured team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of related experience.

  • Proficiency in probability theory and other statistical techniques and models.

  • Familiarity with a broad range of physics and engineering concepts.

  • Programming experience in developing algorithms, scripts, and statistical models to evaluate various data sets.

  • Modeling and simulation experience, especially using MATLAB/Simulink.

Other requirements:

  • This is a non-remote, fulltime on-site position.

  • Regular travel is required (up to 30%).

  • Deployable for short durations (not to exceed 90 days) worldwide in support of test events and operational support; must be able to comply with theater entry requirements (TER).
