PeaceHealth is seeking a RN Charge Nurse - Emergency Department for a Part Time, 0.60 FTE, Night position (1900-0730). The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $47.40 – $74.48. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.

The Charge Nurse is a frontline leader who works under the direction of the Manager/Director. The Charge Nurse assists the Manager/Director in coordinating unit activities which assure safe and clinically effective patient care. The Charge Nurse supports and directs staff members in providing compassionate care and services to patients and families from diverse ethnic and social groups. Independent decision-making is expected in the execution of routine duties.

Details of the position:

  • Coordinate patient care by shift and department.

  • Supervision and assessment of clinical practice. Direct and delegate to other team members.

  • Coach for performance to achieve individual and organizational goals; including orientation, competencies and evaluations.

  • Develop the departmental team and collaborative relationships to achieve expected outcomes.

  • Serve as a clinical and resource expert for the department.

  • Articulate shift/team operational issues to management as appropriate.

  • Appropriate stewardship of resources.

  • Adapts decision-making style to the situation and level of authority for achieving an optimal outcome including using collaborative decision making and effective communication skills.

  • Identify and apply opportunities for clinical practice improvement and support them with staff.

  • Ensure professional effectiveness through education and professional development.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What you bring:

  • Accredited School of Nursing Required

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing

  • Preferred: Specialty certification

  • Minimum of 2 years Required: Acute care nursing experience

  • 3 years Preferred: Acute care nursing experience

  • Preferred: ED experience in like sized and like-census ED; Trauma level 2 or greater; experience at a Magnet or Academic hospital; experience with a shared governance model; hospital accredited and certified by DNV or TJC

  • Required: Registered Nurse in state of practice

  • Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support

  • Required: ACLS at date of hire

  • Required: TNCC within 12 months of hire or transfer date

  • Required: PALS within 12 months of hire or transfer date or NIHSS within six months of hire or transfer date

  • Preferred: Specialty emergency certification preferred; certification endorsed by ENA (Emergency Nurses Association); Membership to ENA, SANE certification, TCAR or PCAR
