Pay Rate:
$47,300 – 63,000
Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills, and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.
Variable pay may provide additional opportunities for financial awards. This job is eligible to participate in IP’s short–term incentive plan.

The Job You Will Perform:
The Springfield Oregon paper mill has an opening for Payroll Specialist. This position is one of a four-member team, working closely with the Mill Controller and Accounting Specialist, to process weekly payroll for our hourly team members, ensuring compliance with our labor contract while maintaining accurate accounting records. Additional duties will include other finance related activities in support of team members in a collaborative flow to work environment. Position reports directly to Mill Controller, but also works closely with HR Manager.
This position is responsible for:
Process weekly payroll for hourly employees
Ensure all pay rules and contractual pay provisions are followed
Assist supervisors and employees with payroll issues
Maintain proper records on all payroll transactions
Balance payroll registers
Process and manage safety boot reimbursement requests for all employees
Consult with HR Manager on contract interpretation for pay rules
Participate in accounting/payroll audits
Process quarterly incentive compensation
Complete payroll research, reporting and ad-hoc requests for mill management
Serve as primary point of contact for corporate HR, payroll and IT resources
Identify payroll related improvement opportunities and work with Controller to implement
Maintain inbound check log and office supply inventory
Assist other Finance team members with their work as time permits
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications include:
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of two years’ experience in timekeeping roles using an automated timekeeping system
Experience with SAP accounting system and Workbrain or Workforce timekeeping systems preferred
Willingness to work holiday Mondays based on corporate payroll calendar
Good written and verbal communications skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
