Valcor Engineering ENGINEER, SUPPLIER QUALITY in Springfield, New Jersey
JOB SUMMARY
Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for the overall (supplier) quality of the company’s suppliers. This position spans both technical responsibilities and the management of supplier quality with a focus on growing supplier capabilities and managing supplier performance to ensure compliance with Valcor’s requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Determine and improve (current) Quality practices, techniques and processes for the company’s Supplier community.
Evaluate, improve and implement Supplier Quality Manual and associated SOPs, Work Instructions and other quality documentation.
Collaborate with the Supply Chain management to:
Maintain and Upgrade Approved Supplier Lists
Maintain, Report and Manage Supplier Quality Report Cards
Visit, Communicate and Teach current Valcor Requirements & Practices to the Supplier community
Perform Supplier Quality Surveys and Audits.
Create, Track and Close Supplier Corrective Actions.
Investigate manufacturing hardware and engineering parts discrepancies.
Assist with investigative procedures on customer complaints and advise Quality Management on technical matters complaints and/or when directed and work closely with customer representatives to solve problems relative to complaints.
Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production Control, Quality Assurance and other business entities for process improvement in a professional manner.
Assist the Quality Management with other departmental administrative functions, e.g. employee performance appraisals, wage and salary administrative procedures, etc.
Responsible for maintaining quality control records and preparing reports incidental to the procedures and functions of the department.
Comply with company policies and practices, administer work rules and regulations.
Must adhere to all safety regulations and best practices.
Meets agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner.
Arrives to work on time, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
College graduate with degree in engineering, or equivalent actual expereience, with additional training in areas such as Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Shop inspection practices.
Deep understanding of ISO9001, AS9100C. (NQA-1 and ASME a plus)
Minimum 2 Years auditing experience (1 Year off-site auditing)
4-8 years’ experience in various engineering phases, production and/or manufacturing engineering, quality control and reliability engineering.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
ASQ Certification and/or experience with lean manufacturing techniques and the use of Six Sigma tools is desired.
REQUISITE SKILLS REQUIRED
PC computer and MS Office Applications
Inspection techniques, processes and equipment knowledge and practical capability.
Through contact with professional organizations, educational institutions, and perusal of text books, periodicals and technical papers, keep abreast of new developments on quality control and related procedures.
RELATIONSHIPS
Work closely with Supply Chain, Product and Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing and Inspection personnel on procedural problems involving design, methods, tooling, costs and other areas involved in the control of product quality. Provide liaison between company and suppliers. Escort/accompany visitors while in building and to off-site test labs to insure conformity with audit procedures and specifications.
EQUIPIMENT/MACHINERY USED
Various Quality tools and techniques required, plus the use of calibration tools and guages including CMM and like equipment. Computer equipment and MS Office Suite software (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Lifting up to 25lbs regularly and 50lbs occasionally, pushing, pulling, standing for long periods of time, manual dexterity, visual acuity, and typing.
