Public Policy and Communications Intern Springfield WORKS, a Federal Reserve Bank of Boston Working Cities Challenge Initiative, promotes the economic growth of low-income families in Springfield, MA. Our work is influencing the way jobseekers gain access to economic opportunities by providing potential solutions that break the silos and barriers between employers, education institutions, service providers and policies to promote economic mobility. We are seeking a post-undergraduate or graduate student intern with a background in sociology, economics, public policy, urban planning, communications, community development, or a related field to support our work. Position Summary The Public Policy and Communications Intern will primarily support the implementation of Springfield WORKS\' communications strategy and provide general research and admin support for our various programs. This role offers experience in mission-driven nonprofit operations, giving an opportunity to work directly on initiatives that support economic equity and mobility for low income families in the greater Springfield area and across the state. Key responsibilities include managing social media channels & implementing our communications plan, creating content for newsletters and other communications resources, researching relevant policy and literature to inform our work, and supporting our statewide legislative advocacy goals. Qualifications Graduate student or recently graduated from undergrad with a focus in public policy, communications, political science, sociology, or a related field. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation tools such as Canva or Adobe Express; experience with social media strategy a plus. Basic research and analytical skills; ability to synthesize information into accessible formats for various audiences and community stakeholders. Understanding of or interest in equitable workforce development, economic mobility, racial equity, and public policy advocacy. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
