We are looking for a Career Specialist with bi-lingual skills (English-Spanish) to guide people through selecting and enrolling in services offered by the Career Center. As a Career Specialist you are responsible for providing a broad range of services to job seekers related to training and job search. This includes explaining program criteria and eligibility, assessing skills through testing, determining eligibility, preparing individuals for services, monitoring training progress, assessing job readiness, assisting in job placement, providing intensive job search services, and conducting necessary follow up services. The Career Specialist must be effective in working with people from a wide diversity of backgrounds and communication skills. Verify any assistance programs job seekers currently utilize, determine eligibility for government funded programs and training grants. Assess job seekers skill levels by administering standardized testing and evaluating achieved score levels, and assigning appropriate training, programs or other center resources. Assist job seekers in developing individual training and job search plans that will fit their specific needs. Provide technical assistance and one-on-one training on the use of computers (including the internet and social media), fax and copy machines, and various software to assist job seekers in their job search; provide a wide range of job coaching on all subjects related to job searching. Provides workshop opportunities for job seekers, in person and online. Maintain knowledge of all Career Center programs available for eligible job seekers as well as programs of partner agencies and refer members to the appropriate program(s) to address needs. Perform all necessary data entry in a timely and accurate manner documenting job seeker interactions. Qualifications: Bachelor\'s degree preferred, preferably in counseling, social work or a human services field. In some cases, experience may be substituted for education. Three or more years of experience working in counseling and/or case management; knowledge of job search and career planning and development desirable. Detail oriented, with customer service, coaching and problem-solving skills. Strong writing, verbal and listening skills. Ability to develop and facilitate PowerPoint presentations and workshops. Ability to execute multiple priorities, in a fast-paced environment; ability to work with a diverse population. Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word and PowerPoint). Bi-lingual language skills (English/Spanish) highly desirable. Demonstrated reliability and dependability. .
