Job Description

We are currently seeking a Consulting Member of Technical Staff to join the Oracle Cloud Agent team to help us define and build the future of Compute.

As a member of Compute, you will take an active role in building the future of GPU Compute at OCI. You will define how GPU images and agents evolve. We’re looking for hands-on engineers with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in distributed systems, AI infrastructure, imaging, and highly available services. These are exciting times in our space - we are growing fast, still at an early stage, and working on ambitious new initiatives. Oracle Cloud Agent is a software that manages plugins that are critical to configuration and monitoring of GPU instances and the team is building image and agent infrastructure to support the rapidly growing GPU Compute space.

As a Consulting Member of Technical Staff, you will own the software design and development for major components of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s cloud agent product. You should be both a rock solid coder and a distributed systems generalist, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and low level systems, as well as design broad distributed system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn. The ideal candidate will mentor team members, drive high-priority programs, and contribute to the evolution of standard practices within the software engineering division.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities

  • Own the software design and development for major components of Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure Virtual Machine product building new solutions across the virtualization software stack

  • Drive operational excellence and best practices to improve the quality of the agent platform

  • Deep dive into any part of the stack from low-level Linux systems to high-level distributed system interactions to root cause issues and ensure our systems are resilient and fault tolerant.

  • Value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

Basic qualifications

  • 10+ years of software development experience in systems or application-level engineering

  • Proficiency in one of the following programming languages: Go, Java, Python

  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field

Preferred qualifications

  • Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field

  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-a-Service platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and DevOps practices.

  • Proven ability as a leading individual contributor and team member, providing direction and mentoring to others

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
