Job Description Summary
The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will be proficient in the EDM and Laser processes that are associated with HPT Blades. They will work on projects to support our Turbine Airfoils Shops while also advancing our technology. In addition they will support NPI projects/programs that BladeworX has ongoing.
Engineering associated with the manufacturing process. Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.
The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).
Traveling required up to 20%-40% of the time.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
Process engineer for EDM and Laser operations on High Pressure Turbine Blades
Will develop processes for NPI programs that are needed by the business
Will support TAVS HPT Blade Shops (Auburn, Greenville, Madisonville) with on-going projects, mentorship, training, trouble shooting, and problem solving
Working in BladeworX to focus on continuous improvement and how TAVS works towards advancing new technology and introducing it to the shops.
Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.
Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles
Uses technical experience and analytical thinking
Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience
Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field
Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of Manufacturing experience)
Minimum of 3 years of Manufacturing experience
