Job Details:
The successful candidate would have the experience and talent in research and writing to produce a backgrounder on any subject, translate business impact through their strong connections with the business units, stakeholders, and government officials, and produce one-pagers for use by any Tyson team member regarding policy-related issues. A successful candidate needs experience in research, writing, organizing briefing books and drafting of comments to regulatory documents and data analytics for decision making. The ability to collaborate with Government Affairs and Legal on strategic direction based on needs of the business is important.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate within the regulatory and government affairs policy network, and within assigned BUs to identify and prioritize topics of high impact to Tyson\'s pipeline.
- Assess strategically external regulatory developments (in coordination with Government Affairs and Legal) and support decision-making in processes to understand internal and external impacts and develop domestic plans to achieve desired policy outcomes.
- Manage and direct policy projects by influencing cross-functional experts to align internally to provide recommendations to the Business on key policy/regulatory issues.
- Formulate and develop policies and positions for identified priority topics; draft comments to be submitted directly or shared with stakeholders for submission to regulatory agencies, with particular focus on EPA and FDA
- Develop and implement clear regulatory policy advocacy strategies.
- Assist efforts in coordinating Tyson\'s engagement in key industry trade associations, work groups, and Committees.
- Represent and speak, on behalf of, Tyson in external forums and communications.
- Provide strategic regulatory and government policy and intelligence support for the Tyson pipeline and portfolio.
- Help to ensure clear visibility of pending changes, new regulations, and emerging trends to help drive compliance, create company positions on priority topics, and advocacy strategies.
- Represent the company to proactively influence the regulatory environment to help expedite Tyson\'s pipeline.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor\'s degree
Experience: At least 7 years of relevant experience in a regulated environment. A working understanding of US regulations and agencies, e.g., FDA, EPA, DOL, OSHA, DOT, FTC. Understanding of different regulatory systems and frameworks.
Communication Skills: Superior communication skills, both verbal and written
Special Skills: High customer focus. Embrace change and should possess the ability to effectively work in a multicultural environment
Travel: Some travel required (approx. 10-20%)
Role will be based in Washington, DC
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced science degree.
The pay range for this position is between \$123,000 - \$254,000. The stated pay range represents a good faith estimate of the base pay for this requisition. Tyson will develop an offer based on a candidate\'s or team member\'s relevant skills and capabilities, the market data for the role described in this requisition, internal equity, and other information relevant to the candidate and role.
