Description

Position Summary: Supports Agency programs and operations by performing professional level financial grant management, including financial records processing involving complex and specialized transactions. Responsible for financial program monitoring and reporting. Ensures work meets Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and is in compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and contracts.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Prepares, reviews, corrects, processes and/or reconciles financial documents and transactions including budgets, bank deposits, journal entries, and accounts payable/receivable.

  2. Works closely with program personnel to ensure financial transactions are in compliance with contracts, regulations, laws, policies, and GAAP.

  3. Develops work/spread sheets and other financial documents. Maintains financial and accounting files and other records including logs, ledgers, journals, and databases.

  4. Develops, prepares and analyzes monthly account details, financial reports, reimbursements, and cash flows. Makes regular reports to program managers regarding financial status of funds.

  5. Performs detailed financial analyses of assigned funds including annual budget preparations, monitoring expenditures, identifying and forecasting financial discrepancies, and recommending solutions to program managers.

  6. Performs work related to specialized areas, such as payroll or loans, as assigned.

  7. Assists with the preparation of audits and year-end reports.

PAY RANGE: $22.09 - $26.87/hour

Vacation: Employees begin accruing vacation leave the first day of employment as detailed below:

o Employees with 0-4 Years of Service = 4.2% of hours paid per year

o Employees with 5-9 Years of Service = 6.3% of hours paid per year

o Employees with 10-14 Years of Service = 8.3% of hours paid per year

o Employees with 15+ Years of Service = 10.4% of hours paid per year

Sick Leave: Employees begin accruing sick leave on the first day of employment as detailed below:

o 4.2% of hours paid per year

Personal Leave: 4 paid personal days during each calendar year to use as they wish

Holidays: 11 Paid

Eduation and Experience

· Required: Bachelor’s degree and one year experience in accounting or a related field preferred; AA degree acceptable in combination with a minimum of three years relevant experience in related fields

· Preferred: Experience in payroll, loans, fund and contract responsibility and supervisory or other specialized area would be preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Thorough knowledge of accounting industry guidelines (GAAP) and accounting procedures; fund accounting experience preferred

· Computer proficiency, with working knowledge of Excel and accounting applications; skills in using computer systems to develop and maintain records, documents, and financial data

· Ability to develop and manage complex budgets, and ensure details are accurate and timely

· Strong organizational skills with ability to work independently using initiative and judgment to resolve problems and ensure workflow is appropriately addressed in a timely manner

· Ability to identify system problems and conceptualize and implement solutions

· Ability to research information and draft documents clearly and concisely

· Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with emphasis on effectively promoting a team environment and working with a diverse population

· Ability to empathize with and advocate for low-income households, and to maintain confidentiality with personal information
