Honeywell Lead Project Engineer, Capital Projects in Spokane, Washington

Position Overview:

Driving a portfolio of multiple projects in various stages, from development to execution, with an eye for managing cost, scope, schedule, and internal reporting requirements.

Your Focus:

  • Managing capital projects in expansion, sustainability, infrastructure, maintenance, reliability in a Manufacturing and/or Chemical Plants.

  • Utilizing strong organizational savvy and relationship building skills to influence both internal and external resources, producing tangible results.

  • Manage the safe execution of the engineering design, procurement, construction, and turnover to manufacturing of capital projects in accordance with applicable specifications and standards to achieve project objectives.

  • Provide the project team managerial and technical leadership to develop and execute capital projects using the Honeywell’s phase gated process that included Front-end loading (FEL) and front-end engineering design (FEED).

Location/Travel

  • Primarily to Fombell, Santa Clara including other AIS site as required

  • Up to 25% travel

Citizenship Requirements:

  • Must be US Citizen due to contractual requirements

Ideal Candidate

  • Led and managed 1-2 large Capital Projects (Up to 30+ million)

  • 10+ years’ experience in Capital Project Management in Industry

  • Strong execution experience in sustainability projects to drive carbon footprint reduction

  • Strong working knowledge of manufacturing, chemical plant operations and processes.

  • Strong knowledge of capital project management process, including FEL or FEED requirements and stage gate processes.

  • Knowledge of chemical process equipment and industry design codes and practices.

  • Strong personnel management with the ability to effectively lead large diverse project teams that are globally distributed

  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects with a strong focus for On Time Delivery Metrics

  • Ability to gather information and develop a thorough understanding of the project, while providing strong leadership skills in leading a diverse cross-functional team

  • Effectively manage multiple tasks and projects, characterize risk and adhere to schedule

  • Familiarity with applicable engineering codes/standards and their application.

  • Knowledge of equipment procurement and construction.

  • Strong estimating skills and will have worked with contractors, vendors and purchasing to accomplish the work scope.

  • Engineering Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical

  • Formal training and certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) is desired.

  • PSM (Process Safety Management) facility experience highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Drive a portfolio of multiple capital projects in various stages, from development to execution, with an eye for managing cost, scope, schedule, and internal reporting requirements

  • Use their strong organizational savvy and relationship building skills to influence both internal and external resources, producing tangible results

  • Work with internal and external engineering resources to develop the required deliverables for the FEL-1, FEL-2, FEL-3 and Execution phases

  • Under broad direction, this individual has the responsibility, accountability, and authority to manage the execution of the engineering design, procurement, construction, and turnover to manufacturing of capital projects in accordance with applicable specifications and standards to achieve project objectives

  • Assures capital projects meet project objectives (including cost, schedule, and scope) by managing the development, design, and execution of assigned projects in accordance with specifications and standards

  • Ensures accurate cost budgeting, estimating, forecasting, and reporting of assigned projects

  • Provides clear, accurate scopes of work and construction packages including documentation

  • Responsible for providing new/revised Process Safety Information to the appropriate departments

  • Analyzes and manages risks on projects

  • Facilitates safety and constructability reviews

  • Creates requisitions for engineered items and development of spare parts list

  • Reports on cost (including forecasting) and schedule attainment

  • Communicates and resolves technical and commercial issues as related to project objectives

  • Responsible for initiating the Management of Change, coordinates with the site PSM (Project Safety Management) representative regarding PHA (Process Hazard Analysis) requirements and participates in PHAs as needed

  • Successfully communicates with leadership, engineers, designers, document control, construction, project controls, and all other departments

  • Ensures all project documentation is completed

  • Exercises direct control of cost and execution of assigned projects

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Led and managed 1-2 large Capital Projects (Up to 30+ million)

  • Familiarity with applicable engineering codes/standards and their application

  • Working knowledge of equipment procurement and construction

  • Strong estimating skills and experience working with contractors, vendors and purchasing

  • Knowledge of SAP as well as the Management of Change process

  • Strong teamwork, results orientation and organizational skills are a must

  • Excellent communication skills, demonstrated problem solving and decision making

Additional Qualifications:

  • MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.

  • Prior chemical or industrial plant experience preferred.

  • Experience in the management of financial budgets, projects, troubleshooting, team building, and overall leadership sought.

  • Customer Focused – Is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.

  • Technical – Understands engineering and project management principles. Experience in the use of SAP, MS Project, other MS Office Suite of products, and Primavera desired.

  • Relates well to all levels and kinds of people (engineers, designers, craftspeople, accountants, suppliers, & construction contractors); builds appropriate rapport. Listens well.

  • Track record of successfully managing this magnitude of investments.

  • Six Sigma Greenbelt (or Blackbelt) certification or equivalent experience implementing productivity / continuous improvement projects.

  • Formal training and certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) is desired.

The annual base salary range for this position is $137 - $171. This position is incentive eligible. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
