Aston Carter Construction Public Relations Market Director in Spokane, Washington
Job Description:
Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) public involvement firm headquartered in Montana is currently hiring for a Public Relations Market Director to build their network across Washington and Idaho. In this role, we need someone who has an amazing balance of both technical aptitude and personality/culture fit as this role will often be needing to build lasting relationships with various clients and territories. This position requires a minimum of 5+ years of experience in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry for consideration (non-negotiable)
Pay - $95/k/yr. - $105k/yr. (depending on overall qualification and tenure following requirements below)
Location - Employee must reside in Eastern Washington or Northern Idaho area as in-person business and client meetings will primarily be there, but rest of the days will be working from home.
Schedule - Standard Monday-Friday Morning Shift but at times, weekend and evening support may be required during public meetings, special events, or high-volume seasons with project rollouts.
Responsibility:
(Be the Brand) The Market Director serves as the primary ambassador for our company in new markets. The Market Director will establish a strong, positive reputation and relationships with existing and new clients.
(Network) The Market Director has a well-established “Rolodex” of contacts in the A/E/C world (preferably in Washington and Idaho) and will develop those relationships and new ones to further the company as a public involvement provider of choice.
(Drive Business Development) Manage proposal development and participate in and/or lead RFP interview opportunities for the market. Collaborate with assigned team members to draft and finalize content for RFPs. Serve as the primary researcher and drafter for major proposals; work with creative team to produce proposals, subcontract submissions, and marketing materials.
(Market P&L Oversight) Set and lead team to achieve new business goals and billable goals in emerging markets in partnership with the CXO. Oversee expenses and ensure markets under the Market Director’s direction are at or below the budget co-created by the CEO and Market Director.
(Lead Projects) When bandwidth allows, the Market Director may serve as a project manager for key projects in emerging markets while the team and business are built. Work will include media relations, stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, event management, content creation, and conflict and crisis resolution.
(Team Management) The Market Director will be central to hiring, training, performance management, performance appraisals, and pay reviews. The Market Director possesses a broad knowledge of the A/E/C industry, public involvement, and is equipped with leadership skills that can grow and support a thriving, healthy team.
(Problem Solving) The Market Director will facilitate difficult interactions among organizational stakeholders to help move projects forward and help team members deescalate conflicts among stakeholders.
Must Haves (Non-negotiables):
This position requires a minimum of 5+ years of experience in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry for consideration (non-negotiable)
This position required the employee to reside in Eastern Washington or Northern Idaho for consideration as onsite visits and meetings will be in those territories
Must have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industry (non-negotiable).
BA/BS in Business Management, Communications, Engineering, Construction Management, or similar.
Minimum of 2+ years of experience in Public Relations or Public Involvement.
Substantial formal experience leading employees required. Prior experience managing at least 5 direct reports and is knowledgeable in hiring, firing, coaching, and managing performance.
Experience winning business through the formal RFP/RFQ process with both government and non-governmental entities.
High proficiency with Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, time tracking, and other technology and online-based software systems.
Ability to work on and prioritize multiple projects while meeting required goals and deadlines.
Ability to communicate well with individuals at multiple levels within an organization.
Excellent organizational skills, strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills.
Interview Process:
- 2 step interview. 1st round will be with the team and 2nd round will be a presentation where the interviewee will get a case and present their project to the team.

Compensation is tied to the Colorado and Washington markets for jobs performed in Colorado and Washington. Other locations may be subject to variances based on location-related factors.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $105000.00/hr.
