Compensation for the Financial Specialist
- $60,000 -- $80,000 Annually DOE
- Monday to Friday, 8 am -- 4:30 pm. Hybrid schedule in the office Monday and Thursday, work remotely Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Responsibilities for the Financial Specialist
Accounting and Financial Reporting
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
- Reconcile accounts, including bank statements, credit cards, and intercompany transactions.
Report financial results to the Vancouver Head Office.
Accounts Payable (AP)
- Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments.
- Verify the accuracy of invoices and resolve discrepancies with vendors.
- Manage vendor relationships and maintain up-to-date records.
Reconcile accounts payable balances to the general ledger.
Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Issue customer invoices and ensure prompt collection of payments.
Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on overdue accounts to ensure timely collection.
Tax Compliance
- Prepare and file tax returns, including VAT, sales tax, corporate tax, and payroll tax.
- Coordinate tax filings and strategy with the Vancouver-based parent company.
Manage tax payments and ensure timely filing and compliance with all applicable regulations.
Payroll Administration
- Process employee payroll, ensuring accuracy in deductions and benefits.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with applicable labor laws.
Prepare year-end payroll reports (e.g., W-2s, T4s).
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Develop and monitor departmental budgets in collaboration with business heads.
- Prepare financial forecasts and variance analyses.
Provide recommendations for cost control and financial optimization.
Cash Flow Management
- Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for day-to-day operations.
Prepare cash flow forecasts and manage short-term investments to meet organizational needs.
Requirements for the Financial Specialist
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in full-cycle accounting or finance roles.
Professional designation (e.g., CPA, CMA) preferred but not mandatory.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Great Plains), Microsoft Excel, Shopify, and Salesforce.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
