Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES Cleaner Working Foreman, Full-time position, 12 months/yr. in Spencerport, New York

The Working Foreman oversees the B-shift cleaners’ operations of the Operations and Maintenance Department.

Work hours are Monday - Friday, 3:00pm - 11:30pm.

Typical Duties:

  • Provides oversight of evening cleaning operations.

  • Performs and/ or assists in the general cleaning and maintenance of the school buildings and equipment.

  • Trains new cleaners or existing cleaners for new assignments.

  • Assists with setting Cleaner’s schedules.

  • Orders and receives equipment and supplies.

  • Maintains necessary inventories.

  • Maintains responsibility for maintenance and repairs of cleaning equipment.

  • Maintains responsibility for proper execution of evening events and cleanup.

  • Assists in snow and ice removal.

  • Conducts daily inspections of cleaning operations.

  • Communicates with department management and provides daily shift reports.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Operations and Maintenance or his/her designee.

Job Qualifications

Must possess or meet requirements for Civil Service title of Working Foreman.

Experience: Two years of paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience performing cleaning or mechanical duties. Must possess appropriate Class D driver’s license. Must be able to lift and/or twist with 50 lb. load.

Knowledge: Knowledge of equipment, methods and procedures required to perform the assigned work; knowledge of specific hazards and safety precautions.

Skills/Aptitudes: Requires a wide variety of technical skills, training and experience in cleaning functions; ability to plan and expedite work activities; ability to perform manual labor; good organization, problem-solving and oral and written communications skills; and an aptitude for directing and motivating people are required.
