Position Highlights

Spencer Hospital is a rural hospital located in northwest Iowa employing over 500+ employees. Positions at Spencer Hospital are not affiliated with Avera; however, we collaborate to provide services to the communities we serve. Employment offers, if accepted, are exclusively with Spencer Hospital.

Responsibilities:

  • This position will provide direct counseling services including assessment, treatment, interventions and recommendations to facilitate movement through the continuum of care to patients and their families

  • Participate in and provide the counselor perspective to interdisciplinary activities

  • Provide therapy treatment, individually or in groups, to patients, clients, and their families with complex emotional or social problems

  • Assume basic consultation, supervisory, teaching, research, and program development in this assignment

  • Contributes to the counseling profession, building on counseling education and experience to enhance department initiatives and patient experience

Requirements:

  • Masters level degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related field, from an accredited college or university is required

  • Current license in the state(s) of practice required

  • An independent license to practice Social Work (LISW), Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Marriage and Family Counselor (LMFT) in Iowa is required

  • 2 years experience in individual and group therapy including DBT, CBT preferred

  • CPI and BLS preferred - onsite training provided

Job Schedule:

  • 60-80 hours a pay period

  • 8a-5p

  • Full-time benefit eligible

  • The schedule may fluctuate based upon the needs of the department
