Location Description The Post Consumer Brands plant in Sparks, Nevada celebrated 30 years of cereal manufacturing in 2021. Home to about 180 team members, the plant is part of our West Coast network and supplies a variety of private label cereal to our retail customers. Just outside of Reno, Nevada, Sparks has no shortage of fun and engaging activities, including rodeos, festivals, and outdoor recreation. The Sparks team also supports the local Food Bank of Northern Nevada. Responsibilities POSITION OVERVIEW: To ensure the operation and maintenance of plant utilities equipment, including boilers, water systems, air compressors and sprinkler systems are done in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with all safety and code requirements. Support, implement, and maintain food safety and quality practices as required through SQF and our Construction and Repair process. Will be responsible for completing job duties in a manner that supports all plant safety and environmental practices. Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Operate and maintain automatically fired boilers, water feed, softeners. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment such as traps, pipes, valves and all other boiler system appurtenances when necessary. Operate and maintain plant compressed air systems to ensure compressed air quality for the plant operations. Monitor and initiate leak audits and repairs to maintain system efficiencies. Conduct water analysis and apply treatment as necessary to maintain or improve equipment condition. Perform maintenance PM’s and repairs on all other non-utility related equipment for the boiler room. Take readings of utility and boiler systems and maintain proper documentation. Monitor plant fire protection systems and alarm systems. Cross train and develop backup utility technicians. Write, maintain and update standard operating procedures and work instructions. Work with engineers, project managers, vendors, and contractors to repair, maintain and improve utilities’ operations. • Ability to work in a team environment with strong communication skills while focused on customer service. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed. Manual dexterity for delicate work. Frequently stoop, squat, twist, reach, climb stairs while performing job duties. Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Work in all plant areas and outside the plant which can include heights up to 30 ft, working on ladders, confined spaces and catwalks. Exposure to extreme heat and cold, humidity, fumes, gases, odors and dust. Exposure to high noise levels. Work around moving machinery that is electrically and mechanically hazardous. Also work with highly combustible or potentially explosive equipment. Comfortable wearing Post Consumer Brands' uniform and required PPE including but not limited to: bump-cap, hair net, beard net, safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, steel-toed shoes, etc. Performs all other miscellaneous job related duties as assigned. Qualifications EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED Must have boiler operator’s certificate, license, or equivalent training EXPERIENCE: A combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job levels as described. Also desired is knowledge of preventative maintenance practices, plant operations and government safety regulations. Ability to work 8 hour shifts on a regularly scheduled basis in which standing, kneeling, climbing and walking are required. Manual dexterity for delicate work. Frequently stoop, squat, twist, reach, climb stairs while performing job duties. Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
