GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the general guidance of the Senior Center Food Safety Kitchen Manager, a Baker/Cook (hours will overlap to assist with the completion of lunch meals each shift) will be responsible for the preparation, service, and cleanup of Senior Center meals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Experience in large quantity food preparation, such asmixing, baking and cooking. experience making various breads and desserts is required.
- Must have a knowledge in mixing, baking, and cooking, as well as using the stove, oven, large mixers, and other kitchen equipment.
- Offer creative thinking when planning menus, and assist with, preparing regularly scheduled meals and occasional banquet meals for Senior Center events.
- Occasionally assist the Kitchen Manager with shopping and storing food when deliveries are made to the Senior Center.
- Helps serve meals to seniors.
- Cleans and sanitizes equipment, counters, and floors. Helps deep clean the Kitchen and equipment after closure for the summer.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have food preparation and baking experience.
- Must have a flexible schedule and be willing to work occasional Senior Center events.
- Approximately, 10-15 hours per week, August - June.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to meet attendance and punctuality requirements for this position.
- Must be able to work well with others, be a self starter and a team player.
- Requires a loving, compassionate person sensitive to senior citizens' needs.
- Must obtain a Food Handler Permit (cost provided by the city, upon hiring).
- Must abide by all city policies and procedures.
