This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Shortage Category and/or Critical Needs Position to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The Department of Army Civilian Police Officer serves at the one of two Military Ocean Terminals in the U.S. Responsibilities Respond to and investigate emergency calls. Exercise search and arrest authority to apprehend suspects. Conduct traffic Law Enforcement patrol using specialized equipment. Conduct waterside security patrols of U.S. Military, non-military, and foreign ships. Perform protection duties to deter unauthorized access to installation. Protection of life and property on the installation. Perform required lifesaving first aid in the event of an emergency. Establish an incident perimeter to defeat attackers as a member of the tactical team. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work on a police force; work as a military police officer; knowledge of laws and regulations; law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques; and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
