Gesher Human Services Direct Support Professional/ Appren in Southfield, Michigan
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Direct Support Professionals (DSP) provide training and support to | | the elderly and people with disabilities at home, at work, and in the | | community. DPSs transport, prepare meals, clean, and provide training | | to people at their homes, workplaces and community. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | QUALIFICATIONS * | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | *Education: | | | | High School Diploma or GED equivalent | | | | Other: | | | | - Minimum high school diploma; must be over the age of 18 | | - Valid Michigan driver's license, three (3) years of driving | | experience | | - Flexibility, caring, good communication and computer skills | | | | ** DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES | | | | 1. Complete all training and competencies with a passing score. | | | | 2. Achieve all competencies and meet with mentor as scheduled. | | | | 3. Provide participants with training and supports. | | | | 4. Train and support participants with cleaning, cooking, working, | | and recreation activities. | | | | 5. Complete cooking, cleaning and jobs when participants are unable | | to. | | | | 6. Assist participants in making progress toward activities of daily | | living, hobbies/art, work skills, and other community activities. | | | | 7. Ensure participant access to recreational, cultural, and | | religious opportunities. | | | | 8. Provide transportation to and from jobs, day programs, medical | | and dental appointments, activities, etc. with company and/or | | personal vehicle. | | | | 9. Assist participants who have mobility, balance, strength and/or | | physical limitations. | | | | 10. Complete computerized daily progress notes highlighting progress | | toward goals and daily activities. | | | | 11. Follow medication administration and documentation procedures. | | | | 12. Attendant all scheduled meetings | | | | 13. Complete all assigned and requ red trainings | | | | 14. Abide by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code | | of Ethics, Adult Protection Code, Mental Health Code, and the | | Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) | | guidelines. | | | | 15.
