Job Title: Building Engineer

Job Description

We seek a dedicated Building Engineer to manage and maintain the mechanical, electrical, and control systems within our facility. Your responsibilities will include operation, replacement, repair, and preventive maintenance of air handling units, pumps, motors, heat exchangers, and more. You will ensure that all maintenance procedures are performed properly, maintain the tool department, oversee water treatment programs, and keep engineering areas in clean and neat order. You must be knowledgeable in safety protocols and demonstrate excellent customer service skills with staff, tenants, vendors, and owners. Additionally, you will work within a CMMS system for inventory management and maintenance scheduling, and be familiar with BMS systems and irrigation systems. Your duties will also include performing plumbing maintenance, maintaining drain lines, and overseeing work performed by outside contractors.

Hard Skills

• Operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and control systems

• Preventive maintenance procedures

• Knowledge of Generators, UPS, ATS, Chilled water systems, Boiler systems, gas shutoffs, lighting controls, FLS systems including Pre-Action

• Working within a CMMS system

• Knowledge of BMS systems

• Familiarity with irrigation systems

• Plumbing maintenance and repair

• Building automation systems operation and maintenance

Soft Skills

• Good customer service skills

• Ability to work within a team

• Effective communication with staff, tenants, vendors, and owners

Job Type

This is a contract position with a duration of 1 Year(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in South San Francisco, California.

Work Environment

This technician will be working within a biotech environment. The team currently includes 1 technician, 1 apprentice technician, and the FM. The building is located in San Bruno and will require additional coverage as it grows. The shift for this position will be a swing shift.
