Description
Due to continued growth, Boswell is seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief to work within our Surveying Group both at our S. Hackensack, NJ office and at NJ job sites. The idea candidate must have experience in a leading role in field work on a wide variety of projects including transportation, environmental, water/wastewater, commercial, residential, and energy, from rural to urban areas. This position will report to the Surveying Department Head.
Description/ Responsibilities
Serve as Team Lead in the field for work on a widevariety of projects including transportation, environmental, water/wastewater, commercial, residential, and energy (from rural areas to urban areas)
Perform boundary & topographic surveys; engineering design surveys; ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, construction layout, flood elevation certificate surveys
Prepare and maintain accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performance
Maintain land surveying vehicle and field equipment
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Required Qualifications
Must have 5+ years of industry experience in a wide variety of projects including transportation, environmental, water/wastewater, commercial, residential, and energy (from rural areas to urban areas) - prior crew chief experience is required at NY and NJ job sites
Knowledge of land survey principles, practices, process, methods and techniques
Proficiency with modern surveying equipment including GPS, Total Stations, Robotic Total Stations, Data Collectors and software (Leica equipment knowledge is a plus.)
Strong ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
Proven ability to read and interpret survey/construction drawings, written project specific specs/ scopes of work
Attention to detail and consistent willingness to learn
Must be willing to work in all environments and terrain, including in inclement weather
Ability to occasionally work beyond the typical workweek
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements
High School diploma or GED minimum with vocational or survey/ engineering training preferred
Valid driver’s license
