Highways/ Roadways Design Engineer - S. Hackensack, NJ Office
Are you a Highways or Roadways Design Engineer with a hunger to learn, grow and see your designs come to life? Due to consistent growth, Boswell's Highway Design Team is responsible for all aspects of road & highway design from concept through design then construction. As we expand our services, we are seeking a highly motivated individual to grow with the Senior Engineering Team in our South Hackensack, NJ office.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Utilize AutoCAD to create detailed technical drawings, plans, and schematics for NJDOT, NJTA, and other agencies
Work closely with engineers and other professionals to understand project requirements and translate design concepts into technical drawings
Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure accurate and timely delivery of drawings
Update and revise existing drawings based on feedback, changes in design, or project requirements
Review and verify the accuracy and completeness of drawings, ensuring all dimensions, annotations, and symbols are in conformance agency standards
Produce specifications and drawings that are centered on written instructions, calculations and equations provided by engineers and designers
Be mentored by our Senior Highways Engineers and Project Managers to grow into Project Engineering and PM
The facets of design include horizontal and vertical alignment calculations, superelevation design, grading, guide rail design, and pavement design, drainage design consisting of both hydraulic and hydrologic design of pipes, ditches, and streams traffic studies
Traffic signal design, and recreation projects varying from baseball, football, and soccer fields, both natural and artificial turf, to parks and playgrounds.
In addition to design experience in the office the Design Engineer will also be required to spend several weeks each year on construction sites performing construction inspection of various types of transportation projects, typically at the municipal or county level.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Engineering with 2+ years of professional experience in engineering design and construction of roadways, highways drainage, curbs, ramps, pavement, grading, guide rail design
Must have passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam and either currently hold EIT Certification or be willing and able to achieve same within 2 years
Strong knowledge of CAD Standards for State and Federal Transportation Agencies (i.e. NJDOT, NJTA)
Proficiency in either AutoCAD or AutoCAD Civil3D
Familiarity with Engineering & Construction terminology
Extremely organized with an eye for detail and accuracy, ensuring that all technical drawings meet the required standards and regulations
ASCE classification Grade II/ III is preferred but not required.
