POSITION DESCRIPTION: COUNSELOR\ Summary: To facilitate daily activities and Assistant Director with program and planning needs.\ Reports to DIRECTOR / ASSISTANT DIRECTOR\ Essential Duties and Responsibilities:\ 1. Participate in daily activities that ensure developmental needs and interests of all of the children are being met.\ 2. Supervise children to ensure and maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all of the children and staff at the site.\ 3. Stay active and positive in all activities during the hours that children are present.\ 4. Maintain positive relationships with co-workers.\ 5. Plan and turn in activities for the Activity Calendar.\ 6. Attend staff meetings to discuss and brainstorm ideas and activities for the following month.\ 7. Provide feedback to the Director and Assistant Director detailing supplies and support that you need in order to be effective in your position.\ 8. Help maintain a clean, welcoming environment for children and parents.\ 9. Maintain professional communication with parents daily.\ 10. Report to the Site Director any major incidents that occur during the after school program in regards to staff, children, parents, etc.\ 11. Help to maintain order and smooth transitions during emergency evacuation procedures.\ 12. Supervise children on field trips during Vacation Camps.\ Supervisory Responsibilities:\ Each counselor shall supervise all children in the program as well as an assigned group of children.\ Qualification Requirements:\ To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
