Description:
Sanctuary of Holy Cross is seeking a part-time shuttle bus driver. The driver will be responsible for operating our shuttle bus, taking, and assisting our residents to appointments within the community. Must be able to work Saturdays and other scheduled days during the week. Must possess a valid chauffeurs license.

Position Overview:
The Shuttle Bus Driver at the Sanctuary of Holy Cross plays a vital role in ensuring residents' safe and comfortable transportation to medical appointments, social outings, and other destinations. This position requires a compassionate individual who can provide excellent customer service while adhering to safety regulations and fostering a positive experience for residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Resident Transportation:
Operate the facility’s shuttle bus to transport residents to appointments, community events, and other scheduled outings.
Assist residents in boarding and exiting the bus, ensuring their safety and comfort.
Secure mobility aids, such as wheelchairs and walkers, safely within the vehicle.
Provide courteous and professional support to residents during transportation.
Vehicle Maintenance and Safety:
Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in proper working condition.
Report any maintenance or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, and any incidents.
Adhere to all traffic laws, facility policies, and state transportation regulations.
Customer Service and Resident Interaction:
Build positive relationships with residents, demonstrating patience, respect, and understanding of their needs.
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff regarding transportation schedules and services.
Adapt to the cognitive and physical abilities of each resident, ensuring personalized and dignified care.
Support Duties:
Provide assistance in transferring residents to and from their appointments or destinations as needed.
Support residents with minor medical needs or emergencies during transit, if qualified and required.
Collaborate with facility staff to ensure timely and organized transportation services.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Licensing:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Valid Chauffeur license with a safe driving record required.
Medical First Responder certification or CENA license preferred.
Experience:
- Previous experience working in long-term care or with the geriatric population preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
Superior customer service skills and professionalism.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
Adaptability to ongoing change in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment.
Interpersonal and relationship-building skills for working in a cross-functional team and interacting with residents of varying cognitive abilities.
Self-motivated with strong decision-making abilities and a high productivity level.
Strong planning, organizational, and implementation skills aligned with the facility's goals and objectives.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and transfer residents as required.
Capable of sitting for extended periods while driving.
Physically able to perform tasks such as securing mobility aids and assisting residents on and off the vehicle.
