Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Quality Lab Tech to join our team, supporting R&D and quality assurance for our adhesives manufacturing operations. This role involves working with a variety of adhesive products, including solvent and water-based adhesives, sealants, and aerosol adhesives, primarily for roofing, RV, and trailer industries. The Laboratory Technician will report directly to the Manager of R&D.

Responsibilities

  • Assist R&D Chemists in new product development and characterization, including preparing samples for customer evaluations.

  • Understand and operate R&D lab equipment, ensuring accurate and efficient sample preparation.

  • Clean and maintain lab equipment and the overall lab environment to ensure a safe and organized workspace.

  • Maintain inventory of lab supplies and ensure timely replenishment to support ongoing R&D activities.

  • Utilize basic computer skills, including Excel and Microsoft Word, to record and analyze data.

  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods during lab work.

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Wet Chemistry: Viscosity, wet bench chemistry work, assist in formulation of products, quality testing on small R&D batches to formulate new products.

  • Improve existing products and work to find resolutions for requests to meet customer demands.

  • May have to go onto the floor to retrieve samples and communicate effectively with other personnel.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in chemistry or related fields is a plus.

  • Strong math skills and a basic understanding of chemistry principles.

  • 2+ years of GMP Quality/Lab experience in adhesives, plastics/polymers, or specialty chemical manufacturing.

  • Proficient in using Microsoft Excel and Word for data entry and reporting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Attention to detail in following procedures and documenting results.

  • Collaborative team player able to work effectively with R&D chemists and other team members.

  • Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues with lab equipment and processes.

Work Environment

The position operates on the 1st shift, Monday to Friday from 7am to 4pm. The laboratory is a climate-controlled R&D environment supporting manufacturing quality and new product development.
