Job Summary

Provide leadership for all Distribution Team Members within a department on an assigned shift. Collaborate with Customer Service, Planning, Quality Control, Sourcing and Operations to ensure timely and efficient processing of Inbound/Outbound/Inventoried product to and from Distribution facilities. Responsible for ensuring the conduct of safe, effective and compliant Distribution practices to include comprehensive oversight of Distribution Material Handling Team Members in the performance of a variety of tasks to include: processing of interplant transfers, receipt and shipment of items, verifying that items received are as ordered, accurately storing/inventorying inbound items to appropriate locations, and verifying the accurate and timely fulfillment of outbound customer orders at all phases of processing.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for all Distribution Team Members within a department on an assigned shift. Supervises two or more Team Members.

  • Responsible for day-to-day supervision of Team Members. Maintain all time, attendance and disciplinary action records for each direct report in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for recruitment, development, promotion and disciplinary actions of hourly Team Members on assigned shift.

  • Responsible for overall performance management for hourly Team Members, including preparing and delivering annual performance reviews.

  • Ensure timely and appropriate training of employees in the areas of GMP/GDP, EHS, and Quality Systems.

  • Ensure team members are up to date and trained to perform assigned functions

  • Manage shipping accounts through the designated contractor account representative and ZB logistics representative, as required.

  • Schedule and oversee inter-company and intra-site material transfer.

  • Contact/resolve/counsel associates in basic shipment errors remediation, i.e. packing slip errors.

  • Prepare/present routine reports as instructed by manager regarding shipping and receiving business.

  • Manage all internal incoming/outgoing packages (indirect, non-product) with senders/recipients, both domestically and internationally.

  • Manage shipping/receiving records including the proper retention of all vendor packing slips.

  • Assist with daily departmental functions as necessary including, but not limited to: preparation of shipments for delivery, processing interplant inventory transfers, shipment orders, and receive/unload incoming material.

Expected Areas of Competence (i.e., knowledge, skills and abilities)

  • Strong leadership and cross-functional skills; leadership/management background; preferably in logistics areas including shipping/receiving/distribution, and shipment/inventory management within a medical device regulated environment

  • Effective problem solving skills, including problem identification, data gathering, solution development, and implementation follow up

  • Leadership and motivational skills to expedite completion of critical project tasks with other functional groups

  • Must be able to work within a team environment not only within the organization unit, but also across departments and shifts

  • Basic understanding of quality systems is a plus

  • Ability to prioritize personal workload to maintain company efficiencies – time management skills

  • Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, with production team members and management in a professional manner

Education/Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma required, Bachelor’s degree a plus.

  • Minimum of 6 years combined industry (biomedical, medical device) and/or military experience; or 8 years of combined industry, military and/or related (general manufacturing, quality or logistics) experience.

  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience required but 3+ years preferred; may include military leadership experience.

Travel Requirements/Shift information

up to 10%

Looking for 2nd shift hours of 1:30pm-10:00pm M-F

Must be open to flexible shift times

  • 1st 6:00am-2:30pm M-F

  • 3rd 10:00pm -6:30am M-F
