Somerset County Children and Youth Services is looking for enthusiastic, compassionate, and meticulous Fiscal Technician to join our growing team!

What does a Fiscal Technician do at Children and Youth?

  • Maintain bookkeeping records including posting, classifying accounting documents prior to posting
  • Prepare prescribed financial statements and reports according to state regulations
  • Interpret and apply regulations to proper accounting procedures and various state and federal programs, including grants
  • Prepare audits for facilities the Agency has contracted with to confirm billing records match
  • Verify state data for maximum allowable rates; execute contracts with service providers; enter contract rates in state validation system
  • Monitor contracts with providers
  • Prepare form for placed youths.  Including applying for Medical Assistance cards, preparing Eligibility Determination Forms, and re-determining eligibility
  • Prepare and maintain eligibility files to includes placement, adoption, and subsidized permanent legal custodianship

What do you need to be a Fiscal Technician?

  • Associate degree in accounting or business administration and 1 year of experience in maintaining and reviewing fiscal records
  • OR One year as a Fiscal Assistant
  • OR Three years of work involving the maintenance of fiscal or financial records, including one year of responsible work which involves the application of accounting or fiscal principles and practices, and graduation from high school

Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
