We are looking for aSanitation Manager interested in starting a SWEET career as part of our Sanitation team at PIM’s Somerset Facilities in Somerset, NJ .

JOB OVERVIEW

This position provides direction and leadership to sanitation & custodial employees to plan and execute the Master Sanitation Plan. Position will drive the strategy, development, implementation, and sustainability of the sanitation program to meet the regulatory and food safety requirements. This position also supports plant profitability by leading sanitation efficiency, including the development of more efficient & effective cleaning methods, developing standard work, training, cleaning validation, identification & execution of annual operational savings.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and maintain the Master Sanitation Schedule with reported feedback from Production Supervisors & Leads after sanitation is conducted.

  • Responsible for monitoring, verifying, and validating sanitation and quality programs.

  • Identify areas of plant in need of sanitation and coordinate action plan with help from Operations management.

  • Oversee sanitation supply ordering, inventory, and usage to ensure all production and janitorial teams are following SDS requirements and PPE standards. Manages chemical re-ordering.

  • Report audit findings & responsible for completion of corrective action for monthly sanitation audits.

  • Enhance measurement and improvement of sanitation effectiveness/performance.

  • Coordinate PPE inventory and compliance across departments ensuring all employees are consistently utilizing required PPE for sanitation tasks.

  • Provide expertise and leadership in Sanitation programs and SSOP to all employees & leadership partners.

  • Carry out all QC/QA directives as they pertain to plant cleaning and sanitation.

  • Follow PIM Brands GMP rules.

  • Ensures the sanitizing and cleanliness of the facility and all production & packaging equipment’s.

  • Establish and execute cleaning and sanitation procedures according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), OSHA, SQF

  • Maintain safe work environment.

  • Develop and implement new methods and process improvements to enhance safety performance and control costs.

  • Interface with external vendors and contractors and monitor projects related to facility sanitation and chemical safety.

  • Participate in production meetings and provide status reports of sanitation.

  • Write and maintain detailed cleaning procedures and SSOP's in conjunction with QA/QC

  • Ensures that an effective pest control program is in place and maximum results are achieved. Report and investigate either directly or by assisting, as necessary, any observation indicating compromise in control of mold, pest control and/or safety issues.

  • Maintain a clean and sanitized environment according to specifications and standards.

  • Hire, train and manage the budgeted staffing for the Sanitation department.

  • Create and maintain a master cleaning schedule and program to ensure sanitation and cleanliness of the facility and all production equipment including writing and maintaining a detailed cleaning procedure and SSOP's according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) Part 110, etc. OSHA, SQF

  • Manage/liaison for third party contract services for sanitation chemicals and pest control relationships.

  • Manage sanitation and pest control programs, systems, procedures, & databases for the facility.

  • Utilize technical skills and experience to trouble shoot sanitation, and pest control issues.

  • Arrange GMP training for sanitation, safety, and appropriate persons.

  • Coordinate and prepare plant for 3rd party GMP safety audits. Provides input and initiates investigations, when applicable, for all areas of Sanitation.

  • Ensure proper training for employees in all departments on safe use of chemicals as appropriate.

  • Manage and coordinate the pH room - ensure full compliance with wastewater system.

  • Manage and coordinate the tray washing operation.

  • Other duties as assigned by upper management.

  • Oversee special projects, identify outside vendors, secure bids, recommend vendors and monitor their performance.

  • Ability to work additional hours as needed.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    Standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling and crouching. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools and controls. Lifting and moving of objects weighing at least 75 lbs. Reasonable accommodations will be evaluated and considered to enable an individual to perform the essential job functions.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    The job will generally be performed in the manufacturing plant. When on the plant floor it is representative of a large, busy manufacturing operation. Noisy, active, objects on the floor, constant movement, and traffic flow of motorized equipment. Hair net, beard net, assigned work uniform, protective eye wear and gloves are among the GMP required apparel that must be worn, if indicated, on the plant floor.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

  • A four-year college degree in food science or science related field is required.

  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in direct supervision in a food /pharmaceutical manufacturing environment

  • Working knowledge of SQF, SDS, NSF, HACCP and GMP's

  • Certified Sanitarian desired.

  • SAP Experience desired.

  • Possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of cleaning and sanitation procedures and supplies.

  • Prior experience with wastewater systems and minimizing BOD’s.

  • Strong and effective interpersonal, communications and team building skills essential.

  • Good problem solving and analytical skills needed.

  • Willing to be trained.

  • Ability to read, speak, and write English required.
