Main purpose of the job: you will develop and apply knowledge in regulatory compliance assessments and label development within the Nestlé portfolio. You will also be responsible for engaging with internal stakeholders to support the regulatory agenda of Nestlé USA and drive the company’s competitive advantage to meet organizational goals.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

In this role, key responsibilities that you will support include:

  • Drive for competitive advantage by contributing to low complexity innovation, renovation, and harmonization projects in area of responsibility (e.g., New Flag removals, 1:1 ingredient replacement, new pack sizes, etc.).

  • Ensure compliance by design of labels and other product communications through execution of day-to-day routines (Data Entry, Validation, Claim Substantiation, Digital, Etc.).

  • Apply mandatory labeling elements for a product label including the ingredient statement, allergen declaration, nutrition facts panel, net weight statement and substantiated claims, that meet government requirements, and standards of identity.

  • Create and maintain documents and records needed by the Regulatory team to support compliance (E-labels, PDCASS, Nutrition Labeling Values, Claims Substantiation, etc.).

  • Review and approve materials to support ingredient onboarding.

  • Complete documentation for USDA product submissions and Generic Approvals as applicable.

  • Understand the business environment and basic market consumer trends within the context of Regulatory and Scientific Affairs.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners for project teams, including commercial marketing, legal, nutrition health and wellness, and product development.

  • Contribute effectively to the foundation of the Regulatory team by maintaining compliance tools, updating policies and procedures, and striving for continuous improvement to enable products to get to market quickly.

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • Requires BS/BA, preferably in nutrition and/or food science; MS/MA preferred. BS/BA in another field with 1 year relevant regulatory experience in the food industry will be considered.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-2+ years experience in the food industry, primarily in regulatory affairs, regulatory compliance, food labeling, nutrition, or product development.

SKILLS:

  • Results-oriented team player capable of working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

  • Organized and detail oriented, with solid analytical and decision-making skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, along with influencing and negotiation skills.

  • Basic knowledge of FDA/USDA food labeling regulations and documentation requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently.
