Nestle Manager, Leave Management in Solon, Ohio

Main Purpose of Job:

The Leave Management Manager is a leader of the Leave Management team and subject matter expert on all types of leaves and will play a critical role in overseeing and managing all aspects of leave programs within the organization. This position is responsible for understanding the end to end leave process and applicable policies for employees, the employee benefit procedures during an employee’s LOA, escalations, and requests from HRBPs and/or the Third-Party Administrators. Leave plans and policies include, but are not limited to, Short Term Disability (STD), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Military (USERRA), Workers Compensation (WC-FMLA), Employer Sponsor paid and unpaid LOAs, Interactive Process for Accommodation requests and State Leave laws across all Operating Companies throughout the US. This position is responsible for making moderate to significant improvements of processes / systems and may demonstrate innovative influence within LOA specific projects that has impact multiple departments.

Key Outputs / Deliverables:

Team Management and Leadership (40%) :

  • Leads professional level employees and provides development and direction for team projects

  • Sets goals and objectives for team members for achievement of operational results.

  • Ensures LOA policies, practices, and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers, and stakeholders.

Third-Party Administrator (TPA) Management (30%):

  • Audit Third-Party Administrator’s (TPA) end-to-end leave process, including applicable FMLA time tracking, FMLA notification compliance, and payroll files.

  • Act as a liaison between TPA and HR to resolve complex payroll and leave inquiries and escalations and provide guidance on established processes.

  • Access TPA’s system(s) to research issues and provide in-depth responses and training to HR.

Communication and Collaboration (20%) :

  • Communicates with parties within and outside of own job function, which may include internal stakeholders, and external customers or vendors.

Compliance and Training (10%) :

  • Act as the main point of contact to deliver ongoing training and education to HR regarding the TPA’s portal, leave, and ADAAA processes.

  • Perform planned/impromptu investigations and audits to ensure and/or maintain EEO/AA/OFCC or Federal/State employment law compliance in practice as it related to leave management practices.

Qualifications / Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s (BA or BS) in Human Resource Management or related field (e.g., Business, Organizational Communication) Required

  • Minimum of 7 years of work-related experience in HR, Benefits, Payroll and Leave Administration experience, including an understanding payroll of STD/paid leave claims processing preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a people leader required

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws regarding ADAAA, FMLA, Military, and company leave policies for Parental, Personal, Sabbatical, and WC leaves required

  • Full understanding of LTD and STD plan designs and pay structure preferred

  • Payroll experience preferred, specifically in SAP and Kronos timekeeping system

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required

  • Experience using SAP, Kronos, and other HRIS or payroll system preferred

  • Travel (10% or more)

  • People management experience; including goal setting, regular feedback, and performance evaluations, to drive employee engagement and productivity.

  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and hold team accountable for same

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to handle sensitive employee information in a confidential manner

  • Strong problem solving, analytical and organizational skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, team environment

  • Willingness to embrace change, be flexible, and adapt quickly to changing priorities and assignments

  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize and effectively handle demands from multiple stakeholders
