VWR INTERNATIONAL, LLC Lead Maintenance Technician in Solon, Ohio

The Opportunity: Avantor is looking for a Lead Maintenance Technician to be responsible for standard operating/production procedures, safety, quality control, cost, delivery, and continuous improvement initiatives within the Maintenance Department. This position provides maintenance support to all areas of operation and will be responsible for the supervision of Team Member activities assigned to the designated area. This role will be a full-time position based out of our Solon, OH office. What we're looking for: Education: High School Diploma or GED; technical degree or accredited apprenticeship program or the equivalent in a technical field preferred. Experience: 5+ years of proven industrial maintenance experience preferred, specifically in mechanical and electrical/electronics. Prior experience in manufacturing, preferably in the chemical or food industry (GMP). Experience in fabrication, machine shop equipment, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, general facility maintenance. Supervisory/leadership knowledge in a manufacturing environment, specifically within a maintenance capacity desired. Additional Qualifications: Must possess strong maintenance ability and aptitude to apply mechanical and electrical/electronic principles in various troubleshooting and repair activities. Working knowledge and skill with highly sophisticated equipment and software. Solid problem-solving skills and ability to perform multiple tasks and prioritize duties. Recognize and define problems, collect data, and develop conclusions. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be receptive to training and performing functions in multiple areas. Good written and oral communication skills. How you will thrive and create an impact: Install, maintain, and repair manufacturing equipment and fixtures. Conduct complex maintenance activities primarily on machinery and related equipment. Maintain repair and maintenance records. Troubleshoot problems and resolve complex and high priority issues. Mentor less-experienced peers and assist supervisors, but does not formally supervise others. Will be responsible for planning, monitoring, and supervising all activities associated with Team Members of the assigned area. Maintain and lead TD4 boards daily and participate in problem solving events related to the TD4 KPI's. Maintain efficiencies and team measurables through maintenance principles and practices, human resources planning, and flexibility. Assist in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic equipment. Install, start up and shut down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements. Advise operators and line mechanics of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components. Inform appropriate management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved. Maintain company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance functions as directed. Perform or assist in fabrication, preventative maintenance, and routine machine checks. Assist maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting and train other maintenance and/or other technical level employees. Will assist in planning and facilitating new and existing associate training. Participate in a teamwork atmosphere and contribute to various continuous improvement projects and Kaizen activities, such as standardized work improvements, cost-downs, or other improvement activities, etc. Promote and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment and be responsible for proper material storage and waste disposal.
