POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Excellence Director (Category Support) manages the execution of the Category Manufacturing Strategy at site level by translating divisional goals into T&P plans. The role is responsible to cascade targets to the sites and to facilitate day-to-day operational decision making, e.g. lead the realignment of products allocation to sites (as part of FOL or similar initiatives), and to help factories prioritize their improvement efforts to maximize business impact. The role is responsible to verify the quality of the manufacturing standards / rate data coming from the factories and to ensure regular and timely updates as a foundational input to capacity and capability analysis. The role serves as a functional lead, single point of contact, and escalation role for Continuous Improvement on the Category T&P Leadership Team. This role is accountable for capability building of Factory & Corporate ME resources, overall health of Continuous Improvement systems within each site. The role supports the Business Manufacturing Strategy as part of the category cross functional team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop, align, cascade and execute the Category Strategy into a Performance Improvement Strategy and plan by factory:

  1. Co-develop Category improvement strategy that considers:
  • Business priorities (MBS growth, capacity needs, etc.).

  • Loss Analysis / External Benchmarks / Factory Results.

  • 3 years planned progression of KPI's, people and workplace transformation (Category Vision).

  • Ability to connect category opportunities with applicable/relevant IP and TPM as well other enablers (Digital, CAPEx, Technical Master Plan, etc.) and build the appropriate ME strategy for the category.

  • Drive improvements that are more E2E in nature, vs factory oriented (e.g., target urgent performance improvement on lines that will be constrained in the next couple of years based on business growth projections in order to avoid CAPEX).

  1. Ensures the right cascading of priorities and targets from T&P and Business roadmaps to the category and factories.
  • Ensure ongoing performance glide paths are aligned with category needs.

  • Ensure clear alignment between support functions and category to deliver results.

  1. Supports the execution of the improvement strategy by:
  • Establishing and maintaining proper governance & routines at category level.

  • Coach and support the Factory Manager and Factory ME Manager to leverage IP and TPM to support the business needs and deliver the expected results.

  • Help factories prioritize their improvement efforts to maximize business impact (e.g., focus UPS reduction on where it will drive the most benefit).

  • Provide guidance and feedback to factories on how to leverage IP and TPM/Autonomy to accelerate improvement plans.

  • Ensure resource support needs for the category are met on key opportunities and capability gaps.

  • Partner with functions to deliver key improvement projects, build key competencies, & other key enablers (Digital, CAPEX, etc.).

  1. Support Business Manufacturing Strategy through the following:
  • Drive long term capacity planning and network optimization and ensure required manufacturing master data is accurate and updated.

  • Provide inputs for due diligence activities on Merger & Acquisition (M&A) and Divestiture.

  • Partner with the Business to identify product related initiatives.

Develop Critical Competence within Key Members of Category:

  • Assess the quality of factory talent and their technical skills across a number of required competencies – process control, line and mass balancing, daily management practices, TPM, etc.

  • Ensure an overall understanding of the different TPM/Autonomy methodologies (pillars) within the Category T&P Leadership Team and how they integrate into the category improvement strategy.

  • Develop the Factory ME Manager on key system/tool competences that serve an autonomous operational team.

  • Ensure adherence to competency building plan for Corporate and Factory key resources (ME, Production Managers, Factory Managers, etc.).

  • Develop talent pipeline and succession planning of Factory ME Managers, ME Specialists, Production Managers, in alignment. with FM's and VPoM's, including supporting the FMDP program. Actively supports backfilling of open positions in the factories.

  • Be key part of the hiring process when placing people in key ME roles in the factories.

Support the execution of the factory Implementation Plan in the category to drive sustainable results:

  • Promote and support factory reapplication of manufacturing best practices, standards and improvements across category/factories.

  • Coach the Factory Manager in driving the TPM/Autonomy rollout to transform people and workplace creating an autonomous operational team.

  • Partner with functions within Category T&P Leadership Team to address resource needs.

  • Advise on the assignment of SKUs to lines to adhere to assigned roles of the line.

  • Support the Factory ME Manager with adoption and integration of IP Practices & digital solutions.

  • Accountable for development of Continuous Improvement systems & routines (IP toolbox), including labor utilization studies, data reliability, SAP BOM/Master Data, Planning Rate Reviews, Asset Intensity systems (NSAM), St 21-908, Capacity Utilization, etc.)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree required

  • 10+ years Food Manufacturing experience, preferable acting as Factory Manager, Factory ME Manager or Production Manager. Factory roles preferably with experience in implementing TPM on the site.

  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in leading and coaching IP/ TPM/Lean. Preferably experience of leading and coaching TPM at multisite level (category).

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 - 7 years' experience of project management, loss intelligence and advanced problem solving

  • Strong leadership in cultural change management and managing multiple complex priorities and business connections with direct and indirect stakeholders at all levels of the organization

  • Experience with senior leadership and stakeholder management

  • Strong experience in developing line labor standards, budget preparation/review, and line capability/speed studies.

SKILLS:

  • Advanced knowledge of TPM/Autonomy and Lean

  • Advanced knowledge in IP toolbox

  • Advanced Problem-Solving capabilities (Green Belt Preferred)

  • Strong analytical skills (Capacity Analysis, etc.)

  • Strong understanding of Change Management

  • Strong competence on Continuous Improvement Guide (CIG) and the Organization Structure (OS) framework for Manufacturing

  • Strong competence of key Standards (St. 21-908, etc.)

  • Project Management competence

  • Understanding of Basic Finance & Value Creation

  • Knowledge of key data systems (SAP, DMO, etc.) & digital technologies to drive results

  • Category centric knowledge of manufacturing processes

  • Strong competence in application of Leadership Development principles

The approximate pay range for this position is $157,000 to $214,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
