The Role

We are seeking an experienced legal counsel to join ICON’s global Ethics & Compliance team, head-quartered in Dublin.

Hybrid - 60% office-based (3 days a week); 40% home-based (

Location: Leopardstown, Dublin

The role’s the primary focus is to provide legal support and advice to ICON’s operational and global business support functions on all areas relating to ICON’s Legal Ethics & Compliance Program. There will be plenty of variety to get stuck into, including ICON’s Anti-Bribery & Anti-Corruption program, healthcare compliance, management of corporate compliance internal investigations and legal support for contentious regulatory matters globally.

Responsibilities :

• Conduct, and coordinate internal investigations under ICON’s Corporate Investigations Framework and preparation of associated reporting to ICON Board.

• Support development and implementation tools/programming/training/communications that promote a culture of ethics and compliance that ensures that employees speak up about concerns and have a strong understanding of the Ethics and Compliance Program; develop and deliver innovative approaches to training to encourage employee engagement.

• Legal lead for corporate; healthcare; and non-clinical regulatory compliance investigations.

• Advise on external agency/regulatory requests and queries (taking lead on non-clinical requests and supporting business and Quality Compliance team on clinical regulatory issues).

• Support management of ICON’s conflicts of interest disclose process, including assessment of disclosure and implementing appropriate actions.

• Provide input and support to ICON’s Global Legal Ethics & Compliance Program which includes ICON’s Anti-Corruption & Anti-Bribery Program, Global Trade Compliance and Healthcare Compliance (e.g. global transparency reporting; Fair Market Value; HCC restrictions/ limitations on industry’s interactions with Healthcare Providers; client corporate integrity agreement requirements that impact ICON).

• Advise on contractual matters as they relate to legal compliance and ethics.

• Support management of ICON’s core ethics and legal compliance codes & policies; and content development for associated training;

• Support to global Proposals and BD teams regarding client due diligence, general queries and reviews of ICON regarding all areas above.

• Support ICON’s acquisition team on legal compliance diligence and risk areas.

• Provide day-to-day proactive ethics and compliance; clinical regulatory; and general issue resolution legal advice; identify creative, compliant solutions to achieve business goals and strategies.

• Monitor legal developments, enforcement and compliance requirement trends.

What you need:

• Experienced qualified lawyer – 3+ years Post Qualification Experience.

• Excellent command of verbal and written English and overall excellent communication skills.

• Internal investigations/litigation/corporate compliance experience preferred.

• Strong presentation and negotiation skills.

• Ability to work with multi globally based teams and to very tight deadlines.

• Ability to close out team tasks and projects efficiently and decisively.

• Self-driven, organised and focused with a strong work ethic.

• Experience of advising on high risk legal compliance issues and communicating with clients and regulatory agencies regarding these issues a distinct advantage.

• Track record of advising on management teams and business streams on the implementation of legal and regulatory requirements throughout an organisation.
