Part-time Juvenile Case Manager

Job Description:Provide assessment and case management to juveniles in a court environment. This is a part-time position, average 20 hours a week.

Typical Duties:

  • Intake and assess juvenile defendants charged with a Class C misdemeanor.
  • Maintain all juvenile records and case history.
  • Schedules and prepares juvenile cases for court hearings.
  • Monitor, track and follow up with juvenile defendants performing community service and counseling to ensure compliance in a timely manner.
  • Contact juvenile defendants, parents, schools, other courts or social service agencies regarding court appearances and non-compliance.
  • Refer juvenile defendants to appropriate agencies or programs.
  • Utilize community resources (i.e. state/local agencies, parenting resources, school resources, health care providers and non-profit agencies that assist in helping at risk youth.
  • Compile data on juveniles for monthly reports.
  • Make recommendations to prosecutor and judge on remedies to juvenile cases.
  • Notify DPS of juvenile case status regarding suspension/revocation of juvenile driving privileges.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of forms, policies and procedures regarding juvenile court.
  • Maintain good working relationship with employees of other agencies assisting juveniles within the community.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Some college or degree preferred. Attend Juvenile Case Manager training annually through Texas Municipal Court Education Center.
Qualifications

Experience: At least (2) years clerical, administrative or court experience. Experience working with at- risk youth preferred. Knowledge: Municipal Court methods and procedures or the ability to learn.

Miscellaneous Information

Ability: Read and interpret policies and procedures governing Municipal Court. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Establish and maintain effective working relationship with other employees, city officials and the public. Communicate both orally and in writing, have good attendance, be able to work assigned schedule and follow all policies and procedures of The City of Snyder.
