Developmental Disabilities Institute, DDI, is one of the largest providers of care to children and adults with Autism, developmental disabilities and other special needs. DDI has been a part of Long Island for over 50 years serving over 1,500 children and adults with Autism, other developmental disabilities and special needs. DDI provides innovative and expansive services to our population through various educational settings, residential services, day habilitation programs and vocational services.

Salary: $16.00-$19.20 / hour

Shift:

Part Time

.55 (22 hours), Monday-Friday 8am-12pm or Monday-Friday 8am-12:30pm

Responsibilities

Duties of the Clerk/Receptionist may vary depending upon the needs of the assigned program. Responsibilities include clerical operations, and are of a basic office support nature, which may vary in complexity as the incumbent gains more organizational and industry specific knowledge.

  • Answer telephones or main switchboard, meet, greet and announce visitors in a friendly manner.

  • Perform document filing, categorizing, and retrieval.

  • Performs routine office duties, such as copying, collating documents.

  • Sorts and distributes mail accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Performs basic arithmetical computations.

  • Prepares outgoing mail, orders supplies, posts notices.

  • Performs related work as required.

    Qualifications

  • High School graduate.

  • Experience in an office or clerical setting, preferred.

  • Knowledge of English grammar, spelling and arithmetic.

  • Ability to learn assigned clerical tasks readily and to adhere to prescribed departmental procedures.

  • Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions.

  • Ability to operate a computer terminal, maintain records including related filing systems.

  • Ability to work independently within established limits.

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, and establish effective working relationships.

  • Ability to use designated telecommunications systems, and professionally and courteously meets and greets visitors and employees.
