Sisseton Wahpeton College Director of Student Success in Sisseton, South Dakota

HOURS: Generally, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or 9:00 to 5:00 Monday-Friday, but frequently requires some evenings for special events and meetings. SUPERVISES: Supervises 2 Student Success Navigators SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Vice President of Student Services, the Director of Student Success plays a vital in the admissions processes and operations of the colleges One Stop Services. Develops, directs, and assesses student success programs, initiatives, and services designed to increase the persistence, academic goal completion, and graduation rates of students. The leader is a team player that participates broadly across the college.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: General The Director is responsible for recruitment, admissions, registration, and enrollment processes. Focus on promoting a holistic approach to student success through administrative outreach/coordination for student concern and wellbeing. Work with faculty and administrators to prepare and coordinate upcoming class schedules and academic calendars. Interprets and applies laws and regulations related to admissions and recruitment. Ensure a personalized and seamless approach to recruitment, admission and enrollment of new students. Fosters relationships with alumni. Works closely with the financial aid director and athletic directors. Provide a program of college-wide-in-service training related to registration, class attendance, and records to faculty, staff, and administrators. Leverage the latest technology to provide student services.

Recruitment Assist with development of the Colleges strategic recruitment plan Leads the planning, designing, coordination and implementation of student recruitment initiatives in alignment with SWC enrollment goals. Leads teams in facilitating on-campus and off-campus recruiting events. Oversees coordination of multiple special events focused on strengthening partnerships and visibility with high schools, employers, and other community organizations to increase SWC enrollment. Develops a school visitation program (i.e. campus tours, etc.) for prospective students and families. Develops a comprehensive plan to promote and recruit dual enrollment students. Creates promotional materials and prospective student presentations. Support students in the enrollment process. Monitors and analyzes enrollment and regional workforce data to identify target populations for recruitment. Works closely with Financial Aid to leverage financial resources as recruitment tools. Conduct regular outreach to facilitate registration. Facilitates one-on-one follow-up with prospective students. Stays current on student recruitment best practices.

Retention Use data informed processes to engage key stakeholders in student success efforts. Assist with the creation of college retention efforts. Help cover gaps in advising as needed.

Student Records Ensure the inclusion of all approved administrative changes, records, and updates to the College catalog and other publications. Responsible for monitoring Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act to ensure the college is in compliance with all federal policies related to confidentiality of student information. Oversee student records and records processing. Oversee grade reporting and degree audit. Provide data to faculty, staff and others, as appropriate, to assist in the development of a data-informed decision-making culture. Provide timely response to student transcript requests and other requests.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree or equivalent experience. Must be friendly and enjoy working with people. Ability to relate to diverse populations and to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations. Ability to plan, organize and implement assigned responsibilities, and to work well under ressure to meet deadlines. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other department staff, students and the public. Ability to read and interpret policies related to academic programs and student requirements for participation in various programs. Ability to facilitate small and large group activities. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and discretion in working with highly sensitive, proprietary information. Must have proficient computer skills. Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to a changing environment

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: Masters degree. Experience working with students preferred. Marketing and sales experience preferred. Experience using Jenzabar preferred. Advanced knowledge of principles and practices in the area of college admissions, dual enrollment, registration and payment requirements. Supervisory experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is normally performed in a typical office work environment. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Position requires reaching, bending, stooping, and handling of objects. Occasional lifting and carrying of light to moderate objects. Travel to activities, meetings, and community engagements as required.
