Avera is currently seeking a highly motivated Security Supervisor for our Behavioral Health Location.

Job Summary

Responsible for providing efficient and effective guidance and broad supervision of all staff in the department with primary focus on the security areas.

He/she will coordinate functions, activities, schedules, problem-solving, and be required to make independent decisions concerning emergency situations.

This person will assist in the management of parking access, control, and policy enforcement; coordinating the hospital motor pool, maintaining logs and reports as necessary to ensure all vehicles are properly maintained and roadworthy; and various reporting and documentation required in the Security Department.

This person will be required to maintain close-open relations between law enforcement agencies and the hospital.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, plus six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • This position requires a valid driver’s license and that the employee is insurable by the Avera Health automobile liability insurance carrier.
