Thermo Fisher Scientific's Chromatography & Mass Spectrometry Division ("CMD") which is part of the Analytical Instruments Group (AIG).
Discover Impactful Work:
For this exciting role based in Singapore you will ensure trade compliance export activities for our Singapore and South East Asia ("SEA") legal entities. This includes:
Adherence to all applicable Singapore, SEA, and U.S. laws and regulations pertaining to international trade as well ensuring compliance with Thermo Fisher Scientific corporate, divisional and local policies
Perform and evaluate the process for accurate transaction screening and review of transactions, including denied and restricted party screening
Harmonized Tariff Schedule ("HTS") and Export Control Classification ("ECCN")
Request, Check, and approve due diligence documentation
Assist Divisional Trade Compliance with the implementation of Global Trade Compliance software
Export license determination and application
Build and Implement a Free Trade Agreement program for applicable exports
Follow the timely reporting obligations to appropriate customs authorities
Review blocks and release orders in ERP and our Global Trade Compliance Software
Identify training needs, co-develop and provide training
Assist in developing and deploying company policies and processes relating to trade compliance matters
Support the continuous improvement of the company’s trade compliance program
Records retention: handling the import/export transaction documentation and performing random audit check as required by company policy and regulations
Keys to Success:
Education
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education is preferred.
Experience
3-5 years overall experience within export control compliance functions, ideally in an international environment
FTA/COO knowledge and expertise
HTS and ECCN Classification
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Ability to adapt and balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with excellent attention to detail
Familiar with continuous improvement activities (PPI, Kaizen, JDI)
Strong oral and written communication skills in both Malay and English
Knowledge of MS Suite Software preferred
Self-motivated and driven with excellent collaboration skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, proactive, with a positive demeanor
