Bloomberg Senior Data Analyst – Foreign Exchange, Singapore in Singapore, Singapore

Our Team:

Our Foreign Exchange (FX) data team is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to integrate end user’s needs into our overall data strategy and drive product quality. FX is primarily a pricing product, seeking to provide transparency into 180+ OTC markets and 65,000 unique pricing streams. As a team, we are responsible for managing FX quotes to reflect prevailing market price levels and provide users with an accurate and reliable source of truth for their use cases. Our product offering includes calculators, analytics and benchmark fixings for use in the Bloomberg Terminal and Enterprise products. We engage with the FX community to explore and validate new ideas. Multi-functional collaboration, deep domain knowledge, thoughtful automation, and data management expertise are paramount for our ability to continuously deliver high quality data to our rapidly growing client base.

What’s the Role?

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a passion for finance, data, and technology to enhance value from our data products. As a Senior Data Analyst on the Foreign Exchange Data team, you will play a key role in expanding Bloomberg's foreign exchange databases to further deliver an industry-leading data product offering. You will collaborate closely with global team members, domain experts, and business partners, managing priorities of different initiatives and using industry knowledge to help drive decisions and generate new dataset offerings. You will work to identify innovative workflow efficiencies and implement technical solutions to enhance our systems, products and processes. You will bring a unique combination of subject-matter-expertise in Foreign Exchange, good interpersonal skills, and a passion for problem solving to address our clients’ needs.

We’ll Trust You To:

  • Build subject matter expertise to create stronger relationships with clients while improving our data’s fit for purpose & discoverability.

  • Collaborate with a wide variety of partners from Engineering to Sales on product development and implementation

  • Research new data sets to expand the coverage of our products

  • Implement quality control strategies including development of quality control rules

  • Contribute to the creation of best practices and guidelines for data governance

  • Balance the best of technical and product knowledge to implement solutions for customers

  • Proactively support customers by helping them interpret data and predicting their follow-up questions/needs

  • Apply problem-solving and data analysis skills to identify innovative workflow efficiencies and implement technology solutions to enhance our processes/overall product strategy

You’ll Need to Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Business, STEM, or related field/equivalent experience

  • Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization

  • Strong presentation and communication skills in English

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in the financial services industry, including exchanges, market data providers or financial institutions

  • Proven customer service skills

  • Experience working with data management paradigms and associated tools and technologies, such as the management, governance or quality assurance of data

  • Experience taking a logical approach and applying critical thinking skills in order to tackle problems

  • Experience working with a high degree of autonomy, handling priorities from multiple internal and external partners

  • Ability to adapt within a fast-paced and dynamic environment

We’d Love to See:

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in relevant field and/or CFA designation (or working towards it)

  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and demonstrated applied data analysis skills, with proficiency using Excel as well as experience with SQL or Python

  • Experience using data visualization tools such as QlikSense and PowerBI

  • Good understanding of our user’s workflows and data needs to ensure our offering is fit-for-purpose
