WTW P&C Associate Director / Director – Pricing and Data Science in Singapore, Singapore

The Role

Overview of the role:

You will be responsible to drive the development of the P&C Product, Pricing, Claim and Underwriting (PPCU) and Data Science proposition in Southeast Asia (SEA), and support on business development activities and client communication.

You will also act as the project lead for managing the delivery of a variety of projects on pricing, predictive analytics, data science for our P&C clients mainly across Southeast Asia. You may also be supporting on projects on merger & acquisitions, reserve valuation, IFRS 17, RBC etc. Many of the projects will involve the use of WTW”s market leading actuarial software to produce customized solutions for our clients. In addition to project delivery, you will also be responsible for client communication, stakeholder management, project management, and business development activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work collaboratively with senior leaders to drive business development activities and proposition development around the PPCU (P Lines/C Lines) and Data Science propositions in SEA, including following up on existing business opportunities, actively seeking to generate new opportunities and maximize business through relationships and contacts.

  • Promote the PPCU and Data Science proposition across SEA

  • Support market leaders and practice leaders to execute PPCU and Data Science go-to-market plans

  • Lead and manage the delivery of P&C PPCU/Data Science consulting projects and technology implementation, ensuring successful project deliveries that meet or exceed client expectations, while also meeting project budget, timeline and quality standards.

  • Deliver high-quality work in compliance with Excellence standards for work quality and to meet or exceed client expectations.

  • Present WTW ICT as the trusted advisor for our clients on and broaden our client services across the insurance pricing value chain.

  • Develop and maintain regular contacts with existing PPCU clients, while building on new client relationships.

  • Understand current and future client needs in PPCU and the potential for WTW products and services to meet those needs.

  • Support our clients with solutions to succeed in the rapidly changing regulatory and market environments.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement and promote innovative culture within the business

  • Support both regional and global PPCU technology and consulting initiatives to continuously drive the development of new ideas, services offerings and propositions.

  • Closely interact with global and regional PPCU/data science champions and leaders to focus our development activities and to drive the marketing and sales of new ideas and services.

The Requirements

  • Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or any other related quantitative fields

  • 10 years of relevant industry experience, with at least 5 years of experience in a direct insurer or consulting role in Singapore/Malaysia/Thailand, specifically on personal / commercial lines pricing/underwriting, data science or claims process transformation. Less experienced candidates may be considered for more junior positions.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to speak confidently to business audience and senior management

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and able to translate technical findings into business insights and recommendations

  • Self-driven achiever, and able to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Good time management skills, and able to manage multiple concurrent projects efficiently

  • Experience with C-Suite interactions and multi-stakeholder management is a plus

  • Good understanding of the general insurance business, market and trends in Singapore, Malaysia or Thailand

  • Technical knowledge in Emblem and/or Radar is a highly desirable but not mandatory. Familiarity with other WTW’s software (e.g. ResQ and/or ResQ Financial Reporter) is a plus.

  • Broad working experience across pricing, analytics, data science, IFRS 17, reserving, and/or M&A is a plus.

  • Good progress with actuarial exams from recognised International Actuarial Bodies

  • Fluent in English. Ability to speak in other Asian languages (eg. Thai) is a plus (but not essential)
