Role Overview

We are looking to hire an Associate for our Asia-Pacific Private Credit team. The Asia-Pacific Private Credit team manages the Asia-Pacific Private Credit Funds and other strategies across direct lending and opportunistic lending opportunities, which provide companies with senior and subordinated financing for acquisitions, capital growth, restructuring, real estate financing and liquidity situations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, assessing, executing, and monitoring private credit investment opportunities for the APAC region, with a focus on South East Asia. Working with senior members of the investment team, they will assist with sourcing and fundamental credit analysis of private credit investments. The role is based in Singapore.

Responsibilities :

1) Origination and investment sourcing

  • Assist with origination and sourcing of new investments via the local banks, management teams, industry sources, and investment brokers across different sectors

2) Active participation in the investment process

  • Conduct independent fundamental credit analysis, due diligence, and research of new investments

  • Financial modelling of investment opportunities

  • Full involvement in the investment evaluation process including attendance at management presentations, review of due diligence reports, and preparation of internal investment reports in conjunction with the Portfolio Manager(s)

  • Presenting investments to the Portfolio Manager(s) and the Investment Committee with a clear and consistent approach to mitigate credit, legal, industry and other relevant risks

3) Deal execution and monitoring

  • Champion selected investment opportunities through the investment process until completion

  • Provide input on terms and conditions for transactions and work with the Portfolio Manager and internal and external legal counsel to ensure appropriate documentation

  • Negotiation and review of transaction legal documentation and liaising with internal and external legal counsel

  • Ongoing monitoring of portfolio investments including waivers and amendments, contributing to the quarterly fund valuation process and reporting to investors

4) Leverage BlackRock’s wider Private Markets platform

  • Develop relationship across BlackRock, including but not limited to US and European private credit teams, and the global BlackRock Private Market platform

Skills, experience and education:

  • Excellent corporate finance and credit skills demonstrated through prior relevant experience (4+ years)

  • Strong financial modelling and legal documentation skills

  • Motivated team player and flexible in approach with ability to work independently

  • Flexible, responsive with keen attention to detail

  • Open-minded thought process and intellectual honesty with an ability to dynamically adapt to different parts of the credit spectrum in structuring the best possible risk-return outcome for our investments

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – presents ideas in a clear, concise and constructive manner

  • Excellent academic background

  • Fluent in English and native, local SEA language skill is preferred
