Global Commodity Manager

POSITION SUMMARY :

This position has the supporting function within AE for the management and control of the given commodity that relates to the Key Performance Index (namely Net Material Inflation, Preferred Suppliers, Payment Terms, Inventory) and Material Program Management (MPM) in NPI development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :

  1. To organise, conduct and lead the price negotiations with key suppliers in regular basis. This is the major actions to achieve price reduction.

  2. Review RFQ package.

  3. Pre-meeting with commodity management team leader to lay out the negotation plan, tactics and issues.

  4. Pre-meeting with suppliers to understand market situation and deliever AE expectation/target for the upcoming negotiation.

  5. Prepare presentation for each supplier negotiation: business update, scorecard result, new project incentive.

  6. Conduct and lead the pricing negotiation to make sure the negotiation results meet the overall target.

  7. Follow up with the suppliers on any open issues/actions from the negotiation meetings.

  8. Report and document the negotiation results/issues/actions.

  9. Publish the new pricings and effective date and drive for implementation in each division. .

  10. To provide cost reduction projection and alternate parts proposal to the key projects. The objective is to ensure the components use in these products are cost effective and in-line with suppy chain strategies.

  11. Review BOM - propose alternate parts from PSL.

  12. Source from and develop PML / Best Cost supplier.

  13. Requote key items with suppliers.

  14. Provide forward pricings projection.

  15. Monitor the actualized cost reduction vs projection and take action to close the gap

  16. To to monitor and report the PPV/NMI in the monthly review meeting with senior management.

  17. Co-ordinate within the team to plan and execute the actions to achieve the forecast PPV.

  18. Review the monthly POR to make sure the PPV progress as plan.

  19. Report any issue and concerns that will affect the PPV.

  20. To support specific divisional issues such as material expediting , VMI and Incoterms.

  21. Evaluate escalation request from Divison's commodity manager.

  22. Escalate the request to supplier's senior management and expedite for response/improvement.

  23. Monitor the progress and report back to supply chain and related stakeholders.

  24. To meet/communicate with key suppliers to evaluate market situation, product roadmap, technology trend and new projects development.

  25. Meet with supplier's sales and marketing to get update on the market situation, review product roadmap/technology trend and design-in for new projects.

  26. Feedback the supplier meetings update to GCM team lead. Understand the commodity requirements and ensure key supplier's latest/most cost effective technology is being considered in new design.

  27. Communicate with suppliers and ensure AE requirement are covered and in line with suppliers technology development and focus.

  28. To prepare and document the Commodity Strategy and Action Plan (5 Year Commodity Strategy, Executive Summary and Monthly Commodity Outlook and Industry Trend) for AE Procurement guideline and direction.

  29. Collect market information.

  30. Extract and review the related procurement data from Power BI.

  31. Review the spend and performance of each suppliers.

  32. Review the data and action plan with major divisions.

  33. Review and present the strategy and action plan to management.

  34. Finalise and release the strategy and action plan.

  35. To organize, conduct and lead the material program review with key project stakeholders.

  36. Recognise stakeholders and each teams focal contacts.

  37. Review and comprehend customer and project requirement.

  38. Identify critical design requirement and components.

  39. Obtain project information including customer, application, forecast, MP schedule, etc.

  40. Review and justify BOM cost and target cost with Sales and Marketing.

  41. To review and clarify BOM and component specification with Design and Marketing.

  42. Review BOM structure and component list.

  43. Verify and update findings with Design (DE).

  44. Identify critical and top spend components.

  45. Collaborate with DE to obtain most updated specification and drawings.

  46. Organize discussion for DE and GCM on specification and technical requirement.

  47. To validate AML and Alernatives for BOM cost optimization.

  48. Confirm DFM, DFA, DFC is considered in component selection.

  49. Drive PML and PPL penetration.

  50. Verify multiple source and alternatives proposal are in place.

  51. Optimize BOM cost by using lower cost alternative, reducing part count and other design recommendation.

  52. To drive MPM result to project stakeholders and Management.

  53. Consolidate GCM feedback and alternative proposals.

  54. Verify and justify additonal cost savings and design recommendation.

  55. Review MPM result with GCM management.

  56. Report MPM result to project stakeholders.

  57. Drive dollow up actions with stakeholders to optimize BOM cost from early design stage.

  58. To collaborate with CE and DE to have engagement and alignment with company preferred suppliers.

  59. Arrange and coordinate supplier technical seminar and meeting for design center.

  60. Align with GCM and interface with suppliers to drive supply chain strategy in design.

  61. To drive material readiness, smooth product transitions and identify supply chain risk.

  62. Drive material readiness for NPI builds with the cooperation with GCM and Buyer.

  63. Ensure smooth product transitions by PM, GCM and Suppliers.

  64. Identify supply chain risk and mitigation plans for NPI builds.

  65. Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental, 5S policies, and general duty of care.

  66. Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

  • Location: Penang Science Park, Simpang Ampat Penang.

  • Works in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Works in a standard office environment and uses general office equipment (telephone, PC, copier, fax machine, etc.).

  • Can work under pressure.

EXPERIENCE :

  • Requires 5+ years of commodity experience, with demonstrated success leading global team efforts.

  • Experience in supply chain management in an electronics manufacturing environment is highly preferred. Prefer familiarty with Copy Exact / Semiconductor equipment industry.

  • Understanding of JIT, Kanban, Point of Use Replenishment, Kaizan, and Lean Manufacturing practices.

  • Experience with a high mix / low volume part procurement environment is preferred.

  • Experience in a very high growth rate electronic business is preferred.

EDUCATION :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Operations Management, Materials Management or Business Management or equivalent or equivalent education and/or experience.
