Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. Shift Manager Operations in Silver Bay, Minnesota
Northshore Mining Company, a subsidiary of Cleveland-Cliffs Inc., is a taconite mining and processing facility located in Northern Minnesota. The mining facility is located in Babbitt, MN, and the processing plant is located in Silver Bay, MN.
We have immediate openings for Operations Shift Managers. These positions are located in Silver Bay, MN.
The primary responsibility of this position will be to direct and monitor the performance of the Operations crews associated with the Fine Crusher & Concentrator or the Pellet Plant. This will include direct supervision and leadership of the Operations work force.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Be a champion of safety and environmental through interactions, safety meetings and by example.
Conduct weekly safety and information meetings within area.
Coach, direct and develop the work of the operations technicians to meet and exceed safety and productivity goals.
Communicate operational plans to all crew members including job assignments and associated tasks.
Management of personnel within the following areas: performance, training, promotion reviews, scheduling, overtime, crew safety and production meetings.
Coordinate the weekly projects for your area across departments to maximize results and minimize impacts on daily production.
Review and analyze critical process metrics with employees and follow through as necessary.
Report out at daily operational meetings on department performance.
Document & investigate safety & environmental incidents & partner on corrective actions.
Assure equipment & areas assigned to your crews are maintained to standard.
Prioritize daily break-in work for instrument, electrical, mechanical in conjunction with the Maintenance Shift Managers and direct shift maintenance personnel.
Participate in, support, and lead business improvement efforts.
Minimum Qualifications:
Vocational degree in related field or equivalent work experience is required.
Previous successful leadership experience is required.
Must understand and be able to communicate and implement safety, mine and MSHA rules, environmental policies and procedures.
Must possess communication and leadership skills necessary to direct operations and maintenance crew members to operate efficiently and effectively.
Must be able to deal with conflict effectively and develop relationships, trust and respect with other employees.
Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office software.
Must have the ability to plan and coordinate multiple work tasks with a variety of employees, departments, and outside contractors.
Must be able to make and implement timely decisions.
Must be able to facilitate the development of employees by providing constructive feedback and continuous coaching.
