The Systems Engineer will provide technical support for the Applied Technologies Systems Test Labs. The Systems Engineer will work closely with the Technical Services Lab Manager, lab technicians, engineering and OEM customers to support testing of HVACR systems, HVACR system controls, compression products and variable speed drives. The Systems Engineer will support data acquisition and automation equipment development and training. The Systems Engineer’s primary responsibility will be interfacing with Systems Test Labs personnel and engineering customers on a technical level to understand their testing needs and develop acceptable solutions to perform the required testing. The Systems Engineer will train technicians on newly developed testing applications and work cross-functionally with other internal groups such as product and reliability engineering, labs, etc.

As A Systems Engineer, You Will:

  • Provide technical support for Applied Technologies Systems Labs

  • Assist lab personnel and customers in developing testing applications and procedures for testing HVACR systems, system controls, compression products, and variable drives

  • Develop test plans and help direct the effort of the systems test technicians

  • Work with customers to analyze data and evaluate test results

  • Support data acquisition equipment development and training

  • Have strong knowledge of refrigeration design principles at the system level

  • Provide HVACR systems, controls, and data acquisition troubleshooting support

  • Work cross-functionally with other internal groups such as product engineering, reliability engineering, applications engineering, and product managers

  • Provide problem-solving expertise

  • Work with the lab team to develop near and long-term improvement plans

  • Clearly and accurately communicate, both written and verbally, at all levels of the organization and with customers.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Associate’s degree in an HVACR or Electro-Mechanical Engineering plus ten (10) years HVACR experience

  • Advanced knowledge of HVACR systems and systems controls

  • Advanced trouble shooting and problem-solving skills

  • Advanced knowledge of instrumentation and data acquisition equipment.

  • Proficient data analysis capabilities

  • Good knowledge of PLC controllers and ladder logic programming

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects

  • Customer-focused and service-oriented

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Strives for continuous personal development and improvement

  • Proficient with report and procedure writing

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States – Sponsorship will not be provided for this role

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field plus (7) years of HVACR experience

  • Extensive knowledge of HVACR systems and systems controls

  • Excellent trouble shooting and problem-solving skills

  • Electronic controls / variable frequency drives knowledge as applied at the HVAC equipment/systems level

  • Experience with CO2 compression systems and controls

  • Advanced knowledge of instrumentation and Yokogawa data acquisition equipment

  • Advanced knowledge of PLC controllers and ladder logic programming
