The Foreman is a field supervision role, responsible for organizing and supervising the safe daily operations in the construction, maintenance, operation, and repair of overhead distribution lines and equipment. The Foreman schedules, coordinates, and supervises crew employees, and field operations with a focus to safety, compliance, efficiency, and cost management. Lead activities to ensure Volt Power technical/safety procedures are followed and compliance is maintained relative to all applicable local, state and federal regulatory requirements. In addition, he/she must be capable of, and prepared to perform the duties of every level crew employees.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assembly, erection, and maintenance of Overhead distribution lines.
Other Specific technical requirements for each discipline (Overhead, Power Trans., Substation, etc.)
Proposes changes or modifications to plans to enhance operation.
Responsible for upkeep and safe-keep of all equipment and tools assigned for substation construction.
Assesses and adjusts priorities, and refocus efforts as needed to meet project requirements and work load
Organize and monitor the work of all crew personnel for timely job completion and compliance with company specifications
Provide Volt Power management with proper, timely and complete job documentation and project updates as required
Conducts and records daily tailgate/toolbox/safety meetings
Maintains inventory usage and materials used on jobs
Reviews schematics and specifications; ensure drawings and specifications will function as designed in environment intended for use
Coordinates or prepares shipment of materials and supplies for job sites
Installs system components and wiring in compliance with the Company standards, Client Contract Standards
Exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment to ensure that the quality of work performed is in compliance with applicable safety standards and operating policies
Manages and schedules assigned crew members
Responsible for training assigned staff on proper usage and safety on all equipment and tools.
Develop work goals and priorities for crew members; assigns tasks and projects.
Report all personal & vehicle accidents/incidents immediately to supervisors cooperate and assist in the investigations of same
Leads Safety meetings per company Safety Guideline
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Results driven and the ability to work well with, and lead others. Action oriented with the ability to prioritize activities. Experience in positively influencing others on the job
Experience in effectively managing conflict within a team, motivating others, and providing direction
Preferred 5+ years of overhead distribution line construction industry experience. Overhead distribution line construction experience pertaining to project layout, grounding, wire pulling, wood/steel/concrete structure erection, electrical equipment and devices (transformers, regulators, breakers, sectionalizers, capacitors, switches (manual/MOS)
OSHA 30 Cert, Current First Aid/CPR, and Med Health Cards
A working knowledge of electrical theory, National Electric Code, and National Electric Safety Code, as well as the methods, materials, and equipment used in the electrical trade
Knowledge and experience of the occupational hazards and safety precautions and procedures related to working around high voltages (50V – 34.5kV)
Proven experience in working from blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematic drawings
Extensive experience in the use of electrical test equipment and instruments such as: volt meters, grounds, hot sticks
Work involves physical exertion, heavy lifting, and exposure to inclement weather, as well as the hazardous conditions of working with high-voltage energized lines and equipment
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold a valid Commercial Driver’s License and maintain a Medical Card certified by a DOT Medical Examiner or have the ability to obtain one within an agreed upon timeframe
Subject to random alcohol and drug testing requirements and criminal background check
Good physical condition and dexterity is required. This includes walking, stooping, bending, climbing, kneeling, reaching, crawling, pushing, pulling, working in awkward positions and enclosed spaces. Lifting up to 50 lbs. is required
Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately and possess good hearing as needed for work and safety compliance in a hot line environment
Ability to travel and report for 24 hour standby when responding to storm relief throughout the United States
Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or GED
