Japan continues to be a growth market for Danaher with 2,000 associates across our Life Sciences, Biotechnology, and Diagnostics platforms and 2 manufacturing facilities, and Danaher Japan is responsible for driving key growth initiatives across Danaher operating companies (hereafter, 'OpCos') in the region. Danaher Japan team works to enable and accelerate the growth initiatives within the Opcos by serving as a source of expertise, providing leadership and guidance on selected initiatives, and by sharing and leveraging best practices across Danaher. Members of Danaher Japan team are top performers in their area of expertise and are part of the team because of the deep insight and execution capabilities they bring in helping Danaher’s Opcos outperform in their markets. Danaher Japan currently focuses on driving breakthrough in key areas: Sales Funnel Management, Transformative Marketing, Sales Productivity and etc.

The Danaher DBS Director - Japan is responsible for continuously updating themselves to be an expert, especially in DBS Growth tools, gain deep insights of operating companies, and develop cross-functional & cross-Danaher businesses leadership to drive results by enhancing the alignment and efficiency of business processes and by ensuring continuous, sustained improvement across the enterprise through the implementation of DBS tools and methodologies.

This position directly reports to President, Danaher Japan, and is part of the Danaher Business Systems Office, which provides global best practices, improvement support, and expertise in DBS to Danaher’s operating companies. This position will be located in Tokyo, Japan - Hybrid.

Key responsibilities

  • Drive targeted Policy Deployment (PD), growth oriented KPI improvement at focus OpCos by leveraging DBS tools, mentoring skills, and change management process.

  • Assist regional Opco leadership in the development of a DBS roadmap in growth processes (sales, marketing, and services), and assist Regional Board with deploying prioritized improvements (e.g. Organic Growth).

  • Directly provide formal and informal DBS training and coaching, and promote and facilitate target associate development in various DBS tools.

  • Regularly participate in and contribute Growth Room and Operations reviews at OpCos.

  • Improve DBS training and facilitation skills by pursuing certification in DBS tools, and facilitate kaizen and DBS training sessions when needed.

  • Ensure productive kaizen events (well planned, executed and sustained).

  • Builds DBS culture and scale DBS competency to Opcos.

Priorities & Focus Areas

  • By scalable events, implement, improve, and sustain foundational sales and Marketing effectiveness processes including funnel management and transformative marketing.

  • Identify focus Opcos and work with the commercial teams (sales and marketing) to install and drive good daily management and problem-solving processes to find a root cause and address for driving/delivering growth plans.

  • Build up DBS growth culture and provide DBS Fundamentals training and workshops.

  • Identify best practices within region and share across operating companies.

  • Create learning opportunities and engagement for operating companies to share and engage with each other in region.

    The essential requirements of the job include:

  • 15+ years of business experience, including commercial (Sales, Marketing, Customer facing roles) or consulting experience, process development & improvement & innovation in a matrixed Confidential - Company Proprietary environment.

  • Leadership experience in driving process improvement and/or change management in commercial / sales environments.

  • MBA preferred.

  • Hands-on experience implementing DBS or process improvement/orientation in a leadership role.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management.

  • Excellent Japanese and English Skills (written and spoken), and administrative skills, including computer skills (word processing/graphics/spreadsheet/etc.)
