Key job responsibilities

As a Manufacturing Technical Manager, you will be responsible for bringing new products from engineering to manufacturing. You will be managing high complexity programs of large scale, from prototype through PVT. This is an individual contributor role. You will be a key member of the development team and will be the main interface between the hardware and software engineering teams with local and international operations teams within Amazon and our OEM teams.

A day in the life

The Manufacturing Technical Manager will:

  • Lead team of Manufacturing test, design and OEM engineers to introduce new products from engineering to production

  • Work to strategically influence multiple core and product teams and functions. Focuses efforts to improve FATP processes across product categories.

  • Work Independently on complex problems; advises and provides leadership to other MTMs.

  • Works with established and/or un-established CMs, manufacturing processes, teams, and/or product requirements.

  • Work with OEM’s New Product Operations teams to identify and escalate manufacturing challenges by enforcing DFM and DFT principles

  • Work within Operations, Hardware and Software engineering departments to implement and optimize manufacturing 1st pass yields and efficiency from prototype through PVT

  • Work with the design engineering to identify and escalate manufacturing challenges by enforcing DFM, DFA and DFS principles

  • Ensure technical readiness for product ramp and serve as technical lead/advisor to new product ops managers

  • Develop and drive best practices across organization.

  • Develop production strategy, implement and optimize processes at OEM; including identification, specification, design and qualification of fixtures, test equipment and diagnostic software

  • Develop, review and execute equipment requirement plans to support new product manufacturing and test

  • Develop manufacturing process at the ODM, including defining fixture requirements, critical dimensions on parts and critical requirements in assembling

  • Investigate and introduce new manufacturing technology and methodology to enhance product quality and production efficiency

  • Drive all factory-related operational issues related to SMT and final assembly processes during pre-production builds; ensure effective closure to enable operational success of the new product introduction cycle, and put products into mass production

  • Bridge the gap from OEM to Amazon by supporting development builds and production

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

  • Bachelor degree or above in engineering

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
