POSITION: ASSISTANT CONTROLLER (NON-PROFIT)

We are seeking an Assistant Controller for our valued Client, a thriving Non-Profit Organization in the Shelton, Connecticut area. This role is integral to our Client's Finance Leadership team, with responsibilities including managing accounting functions, utilizing ERP and accounting software systems, preparing financial statements and assisting in overseeing both Accounts Payable and Receivable. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the auditing and budget processes. Responsibilities:

• Manage daily accounting functions to ensure accurate financial records

• Utilize Accounting Software Systems and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions effectively for financial operations

• Oversee Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) to ensure all transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner

• Conduct auditing processes to identify any discrepancies or areas for improvement

• Participate in budget processes, providing key data and insights to support strategic financial planning

• Resolve any issues or inquiries related to accounting functions promptly and professionally

• Monitor and evaluate financial data, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

• Prepare and analyze financial statements

• Assist in the month end, quarter end and year-end financial close process

• Perform fund accounting and reporting as is relates to grants and donations received

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in Accounting

• CPA and/or Public Accounting experience is preferred, but not required

• Non-Profit Accounting experience is required

• 7+ Years of related experience

• Strong GAAP knowledge

• Knowledge of Grant Accounting

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems

• Ability to perform Accounting Functions such general ledger maintenance, journal entry preparation, financial statement preparation, and month-end close

• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP)

• Experience with Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Auditing skills

• Familiarity with Budget Processes
