Position Overview

The District Manager, Retail is responsible for overseeing store operations and providing leadership to the Corporate Store associates. The DM's duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: managing the store managers, partnering with category specialists, driving sales, profitability, and financial metrics, adhering to all employment, health, safety, and environment compliance regulations, and providing a best in class shopping experience for our customers. This role reports to the Senior Director, Retail Operations.

  • Supervise, direct and manage all KPIs of the assigned corporate stores in a manner designed to obtain the budget for sales and margins; control labor and other operating expenses, maximize the overall store performance to achieve budgeted EBITDA. Visit stores and assist store managers with budgeting process, align operating and financial goals, set pricing and product selection and review ongoing measurements and comparisons of results to achieve stated goals. Create and administer SOPs.

  • Manage all corporate store managers in region with specific responsibilities for attracting, selecting, and developing store-level talent; train new store managers and department managers in assigned stores; determine and direct store-manager responsibilities; conduct store-level performance management process; motivate, reward and discipline employees as needed; resolve escalated customer and associate complaints; foster positive union relations and resolve grievances.

  • Review and adhere to all local, state and federal employment, health, and civil code regulations including full compliance with all applicable laws pertaining to safety, health, sanitation and regulations in all assigned stores; escalate any issues immediately to Retail Operations leadership

  • Visit all corporate stores on a regular basis to conduct financial reviews focusing on total store performance and individual departments; provide solutions, best practices, and operational evaluations.

  • Review financial reports comparing results to the comps and budget, highlighting opportunity areas, developing and implementing action plans to address and improve results to achieve the goals by store and tracking progress against goals and objectives.

  • Develop team actions plans for the Store Managers and support team to implement at the store, review progress and results with store managers and support team; escalate areas of concern to Retail Operations leadership.

  • Hold self and team accountable to achieve financial responsibilities, execute weekly ads and promotions, create a selling culture, and drive sales excitement and execution in all corporate stores.

Skills

  • Specialized Knowledge : Knowledge of arithmetical calculations necessary to consult store managers and owners on a variety of topics such as, gross margins, sales distributions, labor percent, inventory shrink calculation, budgets, financial results, forecasts and projections.

  • Special Skills : Ability to perform arithmetical calculations in order to complete, interpret and submit required records and reports; Basic accounting skills to explain how different aspects of the operation relate to the bottom line results.

  • Physical abilities: : Must occasionally exert or lift up to 75 pounds carrying boxes of products and frequently exert or lift moderate amounts of weight; Successful performance requires specific vision abilities that include close vision and the ability to adjust focus and sufficient visual acuity to check and verify invoices and other written documents; Require sufficient physical mobility or agility to be able to respond quickly to fire or other emergencies and sufficient dexterity to disassemble and clean power equipment.

  • Other: : Food Safety Sanitation Certification required; Frequent travel to Stores required. Knowledge of HRIS and Timekeeping Systems

Years Of Experience

  • 5-7 : A minimum of five years of experience in retail operations with successful participation in a management training program; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Associate Degree - General Studies, Bachelor's Degree - Business Administration/Management
